2015 GABF gold medal and 2014 GABF silver medal in the imperial stout category. Double Negative pours jet black with burnt orange highlights. A long lasting tan head leaves abundant lacing. Aromas bursting from the glass include espresso, bitter chocolate, caramel, black currant and blueberry. Creamy and viscous on the palate, the flavor initially follows the nose. A pop of smooth bitterness comes after, and then a lingering, roasty finish.

Sample at the "Northeastern vs Northwestern Brewery Tasting" on 10/29/2016. Opaque black color with some brown around the edges, and a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, fudge, coffee and berries. The finish is roasty with a dark fruit mocha aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Tasting at Ferris’, marked November 2015
Black color, beige head. The aroma is a bit roasty and appley. The flavor is much better, it’s roasty and chocolatey, mildly sweet, with a touch of sweet liquorice.
Nothing complicated, just a nicely brewed Imperial Stout.

Year old 22 oz. bottle, nice appearance, pitch black, oily sheen on the stout. Aroma is heavy roasted malts, burnt espresso beans, tobacco hints.

Flavor is pretty nice, mostly the same as the aroma. Body is full, creamy mouthfeel. Sweet finish with the ABV totally hidden. I drank to much beer for a Wednesday night, I’m going to sleep, get a bottle and figure the rest out for yourself.
