28th December 2008. A 2008 bottle. Cloudy chocolate brown beer with a good tan head. Immediate and bittering hops that dominate throughout to the dry finish. There is an attempt at balance with some smooth caramel malt but this is really second fiddle to the hops. Bitter but goes down okay.

2008 bottle. Beautiful, bubbly lace on a bright orange-brown beer. Big aroma: menthol, plums, alcohol, caramel. Flavor of earthy, dirty, harsh-ass hops. But almost balanced by the malt. Not sweet, but fruity, with bitter chocolate and orange peel. Well done, though not really my thing.

Handbottled 2008 bomber from Enniskillen. Nose of floral and citrusy hops with toffee and brown sugar. Hazy cherry amber with a nicely lacing half finger beige head. Flavor is nicely bitter with caramel and toffee. Finish is bitter with some lingering toffee. Like a lighter barleywine!

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a huge thick foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of deep caramel malt with a dry hoppy finish. Taste is also dominated by some deep caramel malt with some sweet notes that are well balanced with a dry hoppy finish. Well done overall and something that I would go for again.

Tap @ OTH. 8.5ABV indicated. POurs black, with brownish head. Aroma, hoppy, light bitter chocolate. Taste is filled with the Rogue signature hops, coffee malts. Gained in flavor as it warmed up, got more chocolate and grains out it. Leave a dry finish.

750 ml. ceramic bottle - 2008 release. Pours a deep, dark orange color with a thick white head that leaves lacing as it’s consumed. The aroma is hops, with notes of malts. Flavor is relatively hoppy, with a nice balance of malts. However, for what it was - it was far too expensive coming in at nearly 23 dollars a bottle.

750ml bottle; RBAle 2008. Comes with a dog tag. A hazy dark mahogany color with multifinger beige/tan head. Sort of rocky. Aroma is hop. Resin hop. Head is starting to lace. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is resin hop. I know there is some malt down below, and it seems very roasted, but the hop is all over this one. That fits the 106.9 IBU. Finish is robust, and the malt is a little more present. This is a really super ale.
