DBA—a.k.a. Double Barrel Ale—is the trailblazing flagship beer that started it all for us back in 1996. Partially fermented in our patented Firestone Union oak-‐barrel brewing system, DBA quickly took the Central Coast by storm and set the pace for future beers to come. Today, DBA is regarded as a California classic, and stands as an iconic tribute to traditional cask-‐fermented English ales. Pale malts create a smooth middle with ribbons of caramel, English toffee and toasted oak.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy full amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel, with notes of yeast and hoppy touches. Bitter, hoppy flavour wit sweetish notes of caramel malt and yeast, and fruity and barrellike touches. Bitter and estery aftertaste with malty touches. Decent for the sryle.

Deep amber with a creamy white head that lingers. Big malty aroma with notes of oak and caramel. Taste is mildly sweet with undertones of vanilla, toffee and ashes. Mildly bittersweet end. Medium bodied, balanced carbonation. Outwardly simple, but nuanced.

On tap at Valhalla Craft Beer Bar, Zagreb. Clear golden to dark golden, small off-white head. Aroma is malty and fruity, cherry with a touch of caramel. Flavour is pleasantly caramely, caramel butter candy, chewy toffee and bread, some vanilla, some herbs.l, some nuts. Light body, moderate carbonation, moderately lasting finish. Good balance. Wonderfully executed.

Bottle, 0.355l. Cloudy amber/copper pour, one finger soapy off-white head. Good retention, long lasting head. Broken lacing on the glass. Mild on the nose, malty notes, hints of wood, grains. Thin body, soft to medium carbonation. Light mouthfeel, watery texture. Expected a bit more body to say the least. At first a bit on the sweet side, bitterness slowly building up from the background. Aroma is a bit basic and quite mild. Caramel malt, wood, grains. Nutty, mild toasty. Not bad, actually, despite the watery nature. Quite drinkable. Finishes short and dry. Easily drinkable and refreshing but not something I'd pick up often. Good.

Tap at Goblet Zagreb. Clear dark amber body, creamy off white head. Dry aroma, malty, woody notes, oxidation - not promising! The taste, however, flips that around. Creamy, nice lean taste, oaky partly - vanilla. Excellent body, lovely carbonation. Very much balanced, very much drinkable. Surprisingly nice!
