This is a classic, American-Style pale ale that displays all of the complex bitterness and aroma from the hops of the Yakima Valley in Washington State. By using a top-fermenting ale yeas strain we bring out the floral and herbal flavor profiles. A clean, malty body is developed from the pale and light caramel malt. ABV 5.4% Bitterness 35 IBU. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

Stale grassy hop aroma. Crystal clear amber, thick yellow head. Whole overripe orange, low bitterness, some astringency. Tangy tea finish. No problem with intensity, just stale and boring. Entry level.

Bottle. Light amber color with whitish foamy head that quickly dissipates, yeast aroma, fizzy. slightly bitter taste with longish finish. Not very remarkable but good value for money, considering that it’s a Costco beer!

From a bottle. This actually wasn’t bad. Mild hops and some sweetness, with considerable fruit and citrus. Easy to drink, A decent American pale ale.

Clear orangish amber with a white head. Aroma of oranges, some grapefruit, caramel, grass. Plainly sweet caramel, citrus and pine notes, modest bitterness. A little on the sweet side, but quite OK for what it is.

Bottle thanks to billshmeinke. Pours with a clear golden body with a large, fluffy white head. Aromas are grassy, grainy, floral and citrusy hops. Mild oxidation. Flavors are bready, grainy, mild mineral qualities, citrus, light esters. Lively bubbles, dry on the finish.

Clear amber pour with a medium fluffy off-white head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Slippery sheets of lacing on the glass. Pale malt, citrus and mild hops in the nose. Light body with a lightly bitter citrusy hops character with bready malt in the background. The finish is short and lightly hoppy. Thoroughly average beer.

Bottle from Kyoto Costco. Citrus hop nose, biscuity malts. Rther mild. Deep gold, close to amber, with a low head. Malty flavor, grass and citrus hops, slightly bready. Light and a bit thin. Ok, but not so special. Good for the price here. Simple but decent.

Costco: Pours a brownish amber color. Aroma of hops, with some malt backing. Of the Kirkland beers I’ve had, this one was the best. Moderate amount of hops that did dominate the taste. Well-balanced and very sessionable. I was drinking this along with Sierra Nevada PA and the SNPA was obviously a lot nicer and more complex, but this beer still held its own. If anything, I think it is a little under-rated here (I’ve had way worse APAs). And hey, it’s cheap.

Bouteille @ OTH. Ouiap bon, rien a voir ici.
