Hazy ochre-brown beer; head gone. Buttermilk, babymilk, hazelnuts, and a certain aroma, no doubt due to the ceps. Bitter, woody, bitter almonds, earthy, ink. Medium bodied at least, medium carbonation. Bit raw bitterness; and I can't say the mushrooms make it really special.

Murky and brownish with a bit of an orange hue. The foamy head soon fades. Interesting and pleasant aroma is foremost fruity, a mix of pears and apples. Caramel and an earthy tone underneath. Bittersweet up front, moderate herbal bitter at the finish. Medium-bodied, moderate to prickly carbonation. Can’t remember having drunk a beer with mushrooms in it before. Good.

Une bière aux cèpes, il y avait de quoi se méfier. Et il faut saluer la brasserie gengoulf pour avoir trouvé le juste équilibre sur cet aspect avec un cep qui vient juste réhausser les arômes sans s'imposer ou être écœurant. Je suis moins fan de la sucrosité, trop poussé, surtout par rapport à l'alcool à 7,5%. Le visuel est sur un ambré voilé avec une très fine effervescence soutenue et une mousse blanc cassé crémeuse de 1 cm. Le nez est sur une alliance miel, céréales, coriandre, écorce d'orange et un très léger cep. En bouche, c'est la douceur qui prédomine, sur une bonne intensité toutefois avec un cep qui donne une touche d'originalité mais très bien trouvée. La corpulence est également bonne alors que le final, plus discret est moyennement long. L'ensemble se tient, le cep est validé, mais la structure reste à parfaire.

Clear orangey brown colour with no head. Solid malt base. There was s a certain autumnal earthiness to this that I attribute to the mushroom. It's also not so far away from a Bock save for the hop bitterness which is a welcome twist in this case.

Bottle from Carrefour. Gusher (as expected)! Pours cloudy dark orange with a huge, frothy, off-white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of apple, pear, earth, bark, herbs, earthy mushroom. Taste has sweetish apple & pear, quickly turning bitter & herbal with spices, grass, yeast & earth (mushroom?), sourish effect only livened by the carbonation. Dryish, grassy hoppy finish, bit tart, herbal. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. I cannot get used to this type of brew. So far the best by GenGoulf, though.

Bouteille 33cl de InterMarché Bruxelles Centre, BB 23/04/2020. Ambrée-orange sur léger trouble, col crémeux blanc-cassé tenace. Arôme sur de belles effluves umami-champignons, sous-bois, malté caramel, pâle. Le tout se retrouve rehaussé par le champignon et un léger accompagnement de mousse de sous-bois. Palais reste assez belge dans l'approche grains, je note un effet sec poussiéreux, malt pâle, cara Munich, pils avec une petite pointe de grillé, le tout avec une amertume houblonné noble.

F: big, egg-white, good retention. C: amber, hazy with yeasty debris. A: malty, bit herbal, fruity, yeasty, bit spicy, rain water. T: malty, fruity, bit spicy, herbal, yeasty, bit mineral, dry on the palate, good one, enjoyed, medium body and high carbonation, 33cl bottle from Intermarche supermarket in Étalle, Belgium.

12-10-17 // 330ml bottle at the brewery. Dark amber, hazy, white head. High carbonation. Typical belgian ale yeastiness with sweet malts. Interesting herbal taste which should be the Cépes.
