ROUNDED & FRUITY. Grimbergen Rouge, flavoured with red fruits, subtly combines the character of an abbey beer with the sweetness and notes of strawberry, cranberry and elderberry. Its purple colour with intense reflections and its slightly pink foam indicates a unique flavour.

On tap, some sports bar in Paris. Sweet acidic nose. Dark red beer with thin head. Tastes like fizzy Ribena. Only hint of beer is a slight malt undercurrent to the blackcurrant aftertaste. Nice but not beer.

Bottled. Reddish amber colour with a mediumsized white head, that vanishes quite quickly. Aroma is strawberries, some sugary and syrupy notes along with some mild raisins and sweet malts. Flavour is rather similar, but the berries really dominate it. Interesting concept, which kind of has the "traditional" Grimbergen flavour, but goes rather experimental.

Keg at Bar Basque, Toulouse, Sunday 16th November 2014 Pours reddy amber with a pinkish head. Fuck me this is a shocker, a solid gold (but actually red) sweet, fruity, artificial, syrupy shocker. The best thing about this is that I asked for a small beer. A5 A4 T3 P2 Ov8 2.2

(Keg at Pikkulintu, 20140915) The beer poured red and clear. Its head was medium sized and pink. Aroma had strawberries, tartness and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, strawberries, mild tartness and low bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, tart and bitter. A sweet juice.

Can from Carrefour and drunk at home. Deep clear red colour lasting thick pink head. Well that’s different. A slight Ribena aroma. Flavour is similar. Has some beer flavour more towards the end. Some bitterness on the finish. Sweetish. I mean not terrible, it’s sweet fruity fun, but not a great beer. I kinda like these beers. Not as good as the Kronenbourg Rouge. Ribena Vimto aroma.
