Our Kentucky Irish Red Ale is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentucky’s finest distilleries. Subtle, yet familiar, flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co.

On tap at Dive 106. Pours red brown. Vanilla, bourbon, very strong bourbon, biscuit, caramel. Medium body. Bit much.

330ml bottle from Beer 2 Go in Ivanteveyka. Pours clear dark orange with a thin off-white head. Aroma is bourbon, caramel, wood. Taste is medium sweet, bourbon, caramel, faint barrel. Sweet and slightly boozey finish.

Clear cognac-coloured beer, finely carbonated under a medium, yellowish to yellow head, reasonably stable. Alcoholic nose, brandy, Bourbon, vanilla, young oak, all the classics. Sweet, very sweet, vanilla. Nearly as ice-cream, sundaes; the alcohol strengthening the sweetness to cloying. Boozy syrup. Awfully, disgustingly sweet concoction.

I have seen this beer before but only in six packs. The Cellar in Odessa finally had a single of it, worth a try on one. I have my Cowtown snifter to use tonight and I make the pour. An unusual yellow-amber in color with a wisp of a tan head. It provides a decent nose, I get grain, booze and an expectation of sweetness, let's see about that. The taste is not awful, but it is underwhelming. Toasted bread, a bit of bourbon, a small touch of the barrels, some toffee. The sensation is very thin. Oh well.

Beautiful clear copper colour, small slowly dissipating off-white head, fair lacing. Strong aroma, sweet malt, toasted, bourbon, wood, caramel, vanilla candy sugar. Rich malty taste, light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, bourbon, caramel, vanilla, candy sugar. Full-bodied, creamy texture, bit sharpish mouthfeel, soft carbonation, aftertaste sweet and light boozy, well-balanced and not too alcoholic, very good.

Bottle bought at Cask and drunk at home. Very clear amber coloured with off white head that fades very quickly. Aroma is sweet, bit of the bourbon, vanilla and creamy. Some boozy sharpness. Taste is again sweet. I can see why lots of people are mentioning ice cream, but for me that is a positive. There is a nice hint of bourbon again, but it is mostly creamy. The finish is caramel malty and creamy. More vanilla too. Texture seems quite thin, but it is not unpleasant to drink. Can see why this divides opinion, but I come down firmly on the positive side. Doesn't seem that boozy, and the flavour is fairly one dimensional, but that one dimension is pretty nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Alltech Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale on 09 Sep 2019 at 15:54 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Sample from bottle. 8.2% ABV. Clear bourbon color with a small white head. Surprisingly smooth for the ABV. As expected, definitely has a bourbon flavor finish. Too strong for me.

355ml bottle picked up in the US last week. Pours clear oraange amber with a beige head. Aroma: sweet malts, wood, vanilla, bourbon barrel. Taste: moderate to heavy sweet & light bitter, sweet malts, caramel, vanilla oak, toffee, bourbon barrel. Medium bodied, average carb, sweet barrel finish. A bit barrel dominant and it lacks complexity
