2007 vintage bottle shared from Deanso. Pours a murky brown with lots of sediment. Aroma is just like an aged Stille Nacht, major sweet caramel with a fruity aspect. Flavour is heavy sweet with some alcohol burn in the finish. Full bodied with soft (but more than expected given the age) carbonation.

Bottle from Bier Koning. Deep brown cloudy beer. Small tan head. Smooth softish palate. Sweet rich malt that has a little dark malt thing going on as well. Trace of marmite. Not much else going on but what there is is good! Whisper of fruit in the finish to complement the nice sweet malt.

(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 31 July 2010) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dried fruit, roasted malt, raisins, dried figs and hints of smoke. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, caramel, raisins, prunes and dark bread. Slightly bittersweet finish. Full body, rather sweet with some alcohol shining through. Very nice, but on the heavy side.

Bottle, 25cl, from trade with jbrus. It’s a dark orange-golden beer with lots of carbonation and chunks floating. A dense, off-white head sits on top. Citrusy, slightly sourish nose with spices, alcohol and syrupy notes. Sweet, peachy, syrupy flavor with good bitterness. A bit low on bitterness in the finish maybe, as all the initial sweetness are present in the finish as well. Full-bodied and warming. A quite decent beer, but it looks a bit ugly with all the big floaties, reminding me of Abbaye des Rocs. 091016

Bottle 250ml. @ home.Clear sparkling medium orange amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, raisin, prune, alcohol - whisky + sugar ala irish coffee w/o coffee. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, long long finish of cacao + kokus. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20091012]

On tap at Noord-Hollands Bierfestival ’09. Murky amber orange colour, dense off white head. Aroma is very sweet, cloying, ripe stonefruits and a lot of candy sugar, yeast and alcohol. Flavour is sweet, sugar, lots of stonefruits, slightly sour, yeast and alcohol. Bittersweet finish. Mouthfeel is soft and creamy. Really nice. FYI: brewed with Westvleteren yeast.
