Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#62. First tried at the now closed Beer Shack, Burnley. Cloudy peach coloured first time, clear darker version this time. Easy strength and texture with rum dominant in aroma, taste, and aftertaste. Nice, but perhaps not too much in one go.

Half a pint in the Mytton and Mermaid (just outside Shrewsbury) on 26th February 2025. Rum aroma and taste, apples come through too, dark old gold in colour, no head.

Bag in a box at the Salmon, Leicester. Bright golden and clear. Smells a bit of plastic and sick, a little bit of rum. Tastes of a cider spiked with cheap Rum or cheap Rum flavouring. Buttery notes before the finish. Now, I have issues with substandard rum flavouring. A good rum cider can be amazing but this is a hard sell.

On tap (gravity) at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours a slightly hazy brownish gold with virtually no head. Not much of an aroma either just some vague hints of apple and alcohol. In the mouth it is pretty tasteless too – there is a lrge amount of wetness, some traces of rum and apples and not much else. Very disappointing.

BIAB at Cobblestones, Bridgwater. Pours clear golden with no head. Aroma: plenty of rum, sugary sweetness, fruity. Taste: moderate sweet with low bitterness, mellow apple, rum barrel hints, sugars, sweet orchard fruits. Light to medium body with low/no carbonation. Nope

Bladder bag at Chiltern Taps, 01/09/19. Clear golden with nothing in the way of a head. Nose is big on rum fumes, sugars, rhum baba, orchard fruits. Taste runs much more like a cider with a much toned down rum presence when compared to the aroma, mellow apple, sugars, sweet orchard fruits. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Ok for what it is but I couldn’t drink a lot of this number.

Box @ Stable, Birmingham. Pour a misty gold, plasticine aroma. Taste is surprisingly balanced, drinkable and not as harsh as expected for a rum box cider. Nice sweet apple fruit integration with sweet light rum and citric orange. Quite nice.

Tap at the Express Tavern, Brentford. Hazy gold colour, no head and tropical fruit bowl & summer berries aroma. Taste is sweet & tart, fruity, with juicy peach, apricot, berry notes, maybe a hint of rum. Thin mouthfeel, light bodied, low carbonation, dry tangy finish. Quite OK.
