Vandervelden 135 Oude Geuze is a blend of 1-year-old lambic aged on foeders that were previously used for mainly red Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany wine and of 3-year-old lambic on an old Oud Beersel foeder.

Is this a 35 year best before? That's about all I can figure, making it a 2022 bottle.
Very deep, rich, bronze-copper shows the red wine influence. Small, off-white head quickly fades to ring. Good clarity, with a hint of haze despite a careful pour.
Big lacto character with strong oak and moderate red wine notes. Very mild barnyard and mild, fruity Brett with good wheat blandness softening the overall acidity, which seems pretty high. Definitely no funny business going on here; seems a proper gueuze.
Lighter body than expected. Soft wheat but no real chew or oak tannin to it, which is surprising. It's also much, much less acidic than expected, showing more red wine fruit and mild Brett with almost no sourness. Tart at best, with rustic grain, more light wine qualities and pleasant, easygoing oak. Would like more acid, some funk and just better all-around structure and lambic quality.

Slightly cloudy, gold amber colored. AROMA- apricot, white grapes, flowery, floral, sour, funky, leather. FLAVOR- silky, lightly sweet, medium sourness, lightly bitter, apple, grapes, mirabelles, berries, currant, floral hops, nice lambic character. Fuller bodied.

Slightly cloudy yellow pour, with a large white head. Aroma is very funky, loads of barnyard aromas, wet hay, and a very sharp wheat, and funky lemon. mouth feel is very lively, and super bright, with a very effervescent carb. The funk fades a bit, and becomes more tart, than funky in the end. Lots of funky lemon, sharp vegetal notes, with some more wet hay, and grasses.

W smaku bardzo wytrawne, ogrom nut funky, głównie skóry i siana, czuć, że ma się do czynienia z dość starym lambikiem. Kwaśność średnia, optymalna, nieznaczny ocet.
Wysycenie w normie, ciało lekkie, świetna pijalność, dobry balans.
Genialne piwo, ma wszystkie, czego można się spodziewać po tym stylu, ale tutaj jest do podniesione do potęgi. Gorąco polecam.

Bottle from Flink Gegist, Delft. Fruity aroma with citrus, lemon, wood, musty barnyard funk, apple juice, hay, and a touch of stone fruits. Flavour is tart and medium sour with a little sweetness and bitterness. Body is medium with some fairly fizzy carbonation. May not be the most complex or sour Gueuze but it has a wonderful balanced drinkability, tons of fruits and funk. Tart and sour, my appreciation grew as my glass became more empty, ultimately leaving me anxious for more.

Аромат классический для данного сорта, слегка кислый на оттенке, травянистый, дрожжевой. Цвет мутно желтый, глубокий. Вкус начинается очень неприятной травянистой горечью, которая на радость быстро переходит в кислые яблоки и ягоды. Послевкусие в принципе мягкое, оттенок лимонной кислоты, немного зимних ягод. В целом средний, даже посредственный ламбик.

Bottle @ home. Slightly unclear golden body under a fine white head. Nice, smooth funky aroma of pale malt, apple cider, citric fruits, grapes and mild wood. Taste is amazingly smooth with malt, apple cider, citric fruit, mild lemon, grapes, wood, cellear notes, mild funk and some bitterness. Fine body with long lasting, smooth, tart finish. A really nice, complex, smooth and refreshing geuze. From parallel tasting of 135- and 140-years edition. Not a big difference really when sampled in 2023. Both are amazing.

Bottled 14.02.2017. dark yellow color, medium big white head. smells musty, grassy, bit cheesy, earthy, light wood, green apples, peppery. nice smell. full body, bubbly carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of grass, cheese, green apples, lightly citric, very light wood, hints of vinegar. finishes dry and lightly sour with notes of grass, cheese and citric notes. great balance. rather on the grassy / citric side. overall nice one.

I was not that impressed with that right out of the bottle, but it just needs some air, has a mild curry presence on the taste, overall quite good one.
