BIAB at Half Moon, Darlington. Hazy orange-yellow gold colour, no head and light juicy apple aroma. Taste is sweet, orangey, marmalade notes, syrupy and juicy apple. Medium bodied, low carbonation, sweet mellow citrusy finish. OK

On tap at the Crown & Trumpet, Broadway. Slightly hazy straw colour. Marmalade surprisingly evident in both the whiff and the taste. It tends more towards the sweet commercial thin shred stuff than the decent chunky bitter home-made stuff, but it works ok against the sweetish eating appley cider behind. It’s quite thin but I think this helps offset the sweetness and leaves it as a light, refreshing and pleasant cider. It is however, a little polite at times and it did leave me wondering what it’d be like if you made a souped-up version with rough scrumpy and bitter Olde English-style marmalade.

Bag-in-a-box at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Pale and slightly hazy; sweet orange juice aroma; medium sweet orange juice taste; with the finish showing a more marmalade like bitterness. Very drinkable, different, and rather good.

BIAB @ Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours murky yellow. Citrus rind aroma. Taste is, well, marmalade with a bizarre syrupy fruit element. Tasty and different.

Cask @ Stubbing Wharf, Hebden Bridge. Hazy dishwater yellow in colour. Light, but not thin with apple evident in both aroma and taste. There’s a mild sweetness (the marmalade) to the cider with a short aftertaste.
