Double Hazelnut Praline Coffee Porter... This remodelled special edition would leave Bernard Quatermass dumbstruck and unarticulated! DOUBLE the hazelnut, DOUBLE the coffee with an extra edition of cacao and caramalts to deliver an opulent, deluxe, sumptuous, hedonistic, rich and costly consumable colossus.

Tap at FFB20, shared with the crew. I only took numerical notes while having this one.

(Draught at Beer Merchants Tap, Hackney Wick, London, 10 May 2024) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, cacao, hazelnuts, vanilla and caramel. Malty, roasted taste with sweet espresso, cacao, dark chocolate, hazelnuts, vanilla, caramel, toffee and a balanced coffee/cacao bitterness in a sweet and warming finish. Full body, sweet. Chocolate truffles, hazelnut and sweet espresso. Rich and tasty, good balance. Great beer.

Can consumed Saturday 18th December 2021 on a Zoom chat with Scott and Mandy. We had Chicken Satay and Sweet and Sour Pork and Rice.. Pours black the head which was a good size disappearing in a nano second. Cocoa and light coffee on the nose but not picking up too much of the barrel ageing, is it Bourbon, I think so. Smooth creamy mouthfeel, mostly roasty, barrel ageing is now noticeable, an ever present sweeteness, there is coffee and bitter dark chocolate, warming from the alcohol, a little burnt sugar.

Tap at Beergeek Bar. Pitch black, lasting tan head. Enormous, insane coffee aroma, a bit rough though, vaguely washed-out, some mild dried figs. Chocolate indeed in the taste, lovely praline/truffle chocolate mixing with the solid coffee notes, which are out of tune at times and beautifully mixing with the chocolate craziness at others. If the coffee aspect was better and not earthy, strongly so at times, this would be a strong 4+, like this... Less so and still excellent.
