Fra fat på Mitchell's (V&A Waterfront), første kveld i Cape Town feb-20: klar gylden med fint skum som varer. Urter, honning og våt barskog. God fylde og fin bitterhet. Moreish.

Keg at Mitchell’s on the V&A. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The aroma is quite bready, toasty grain, cereal and fruit cake. The taste is dry, some bitterness, cereal, toasty grain, spicy, straw, grass, earth, leather, wood and light alcohol. Medium body and moderate carbonation dry finish. Not a huge amount going on, but horrific either. Fair.

Backlog. From tap at Mitchell’s Scottish Ale House, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, with QL 12.04.12. Sweet aroma, some caramelt. Little carbonation. Head gives away quickly. Taste similar to aroma, with some bitterness. Complex aftertaste. A decent strong ale brewed in Cape Town.

Very good, dense, off-white head over amberish orange-golden beer (colour of succade). Aromatic hops above all. Seem to get a bit of honey, but that might be suggestion. Perfumey touch, seemingly typical for Michell’s. Lightly sweetish nose. Bitterish-spicy taste. Specific flavour as from fresh (maybe just ’blanched’) carrots. Bit of mannah, pharmaceutical, warming up turning to coriander. Grainy, as something out of a organic foodshop. Bit of astringency, seemingly linked to the carrotflavour. Spritzy; light to meidum bodied. Not really enjoyable. Rather clashing flavours, achieving no balance. Thanks to M & L!
