A very nice dark amber pour, with a small diminishing head. Great floral, citrus hop aroma, with some nice pine notes. Very nice citrucy flavour, loads of hops in here. Wow, this is excellent, an absolute abundance of hops! Great bitter finish, wow EXCELLENT IPA!

Bouteille 341ml.

Originally rated December 2005. Second beer of my IPA night. Purchased at Dépanneur de la Rive in Cap-Rouge, Quebec. Pours an amber colour with a medium head that leaves good lace. The nose is caramel, nut and hop. Medium bodied mouthfeel. The taste is a mix of the caramel malt and the hop. Nice bitterness throughout that is above average. Very close to the Bièropholie IPA, except no haziness and slightly less hop in the taste.

Piney citric resiny hop nose. Hazy brown amber, lacing off-white head. Honeyish malt, plentifull hops. Wellbalanced citric. Pleasant.

Deep ruby tinted copper coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of strong caramel, malt, apples, toffee and oh yeah - hops, but not much though! Medium-bodied; Assertive malt and caramel up front with a lot of alcohol noticeable and a dose of hops, although those are not the dominant flavour. Aftertaste shows some of the floral and piney hops that are noticeable at the end, but a lot of caramel still comes out. Overall, a good beer, but I was expecting perhaps a bit more hops. Looking at some of the other ratings, it makes sense - since this appears to be ~2 years old, thus the hops have really died down. I sampled the 66 IBU bottle with a different label than the one shown in the picture here. I sampled this 341 mL bottle purchased at Depanneur Peluso (Bonisoir) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 09-April-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 13-June-2009.

Brown bottle, 341 ml, drank at L’autre œil; eye: burnt orange with amber reflections, no effervescence, lightly veiled; nose: floral hops, hops and hops; mouth: hops, hops, hops, a hint of caramel and hops, medium body, quite bitter but still refreshing; overall: I like FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 341 ml, bue à L’autre œil; oeil : orange brulé avec reflets ambrés, pas d’effervescence, légèrement voilée; nez : houlbon floral, houblon, houblon; bouche : houblon, houblon, houblon, touche de caramel et houblon, corps moyen, pas mal amère mais rafraîchissante; en résumé : j’aime bien

Bottled, thanks Rastacouere! Clear amber, small creamy head. Tar, fruity lingonberry and grapefruit aroma. Sweet with soft, rounded mouthfeel. Very fruity with some peachy acidity. Medium bitterness.

Cloudy bright red colour. Aroma of lemon, lime and berry. Flavour is a bit stale perhaps with some hard candy, fruity hops and background chewy malts.

Deep orange amber ale with a thick off-white head. Lacing. Light spicey pungeant hops with caramel malts in aroma. In mouth, classy hops, floral and long in mouth, pleasing, with citrusy notes, herbal, almost minty. Rich hops, a bit thin, but quaffable.

Bottle: Poured a hazy brown color ale with a huge bubbly head with average retention. Aroma of dry hops and with some roasted malt. Taste kind of surprise me since I thought that Cascade hops were more floral and sweet then bitter but this is still very enjoyable nonetheless. Another fine beer from Bieropholie and a nice experiment.
