PALM Hop Select is a complex yet balanced top-fermentation connoisseurs’ beer with a reasonable alcohol content. Its specific hop aroma comes from the aromatic Hallertau Mittelfrüh hop variety. The carefully selected PALM yeast gives this beer its banana-like fruitiness, and the special PALM malts provide its subtle touch of caramel. Bottle conditioning ensures fine sparkling and an excellent shelf-life. PALM Hop Select undergoes hopping in three stages. An initial hopping at the start of the boiling process ensures the bitter flavour. The specific hop aroma comes from the Hallertau Mittelfrüh. This aromatic hop variety is added as a second hopping at the end of boiling and as a third hopping during dry hopping (end of fermentation), when Hallertau Mittelfrüh from our own hop field is used.

drank at brazzaville ( not real special beer place) . no scent absoluteley! hoppy kinda sweetness, yet it aint a IPA , nor palm, at all. this is a very good blond belgian ale i’d say. coloured yellow/gold , nice foam, absolutely right carbonation. its very soft with a nice , little aftertaste that reminds me of palm ( buttery) very good for in the summer, way better than i remembered from the first time. try this, before its sold out ! --- Beer merged from original tick of Palm Hop Select (Handgeplukte Hop) on 06 Oct 2017 at 04:10 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Original review text: Bottle at Modeste 2017. Pours bit darker blonde, small white head. Smell is funky, almost like brett was used in this ? taste is full, brett. totally not what I expected, since I had previous versions before ( unofficial, but the same beer ) . Seems like this batch ( or bottle ? ) had a big infection problem caused by Brettanomyces. Still quite drinkable though, hence the high score for a flawed beer.

Sampled 375 ml. Bottle @ ’t Waagstuk // always curious about who the market is for such beers, i assume that it is a mainly an export beer but I cannot imagine there being much interest in the states for something like this, i have seen this before around but are Belgian consumers really getting into hops, is it a marketing thing, who knows? // brewed & dry-hopped with Hallertau Mittelfrüh an American hop of which I have never even heard // before slightly hazy, light golden, orange, patch white head // smells of Belgian yeast, light smell, some malts, light watery slightly fruity hops // mellow taste of hay, lightly fruity not particularly exiting EU hops, light malts, touch fruity, grass, hint of spices, frankly not getting much of the usual Palm malt but might be because it has been so long since I have had a regular Palm, once again those hops in the finish & some very mellow citrus // m/m body // rather inoffensive which is probably what they were going for --- Beer merged from original tick of Palm Hop Select (Handgeplukte Hop) on 01 Oct 2017 at 02:14 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Thanks to Kraddel + 90! Sampled bottled @ Modeste 2017. Orange creamy white head. Nose is weird stale grain, soggy bread, grass & oddly am I getting brett here? Taste is oddly sweet, bit dirty, grainy, soggy bread, weird soapy brett which helps it. soapy grain bodied with brett. I do not expect good beers from De Palm but has this actually got an unintentional brett infection? From a brewery this big, things like this shouldn’t happen I would say but it does help it a bit.

Slightly hazy, light amber coloured beer, white head. Aroma of hops, light malts, light fruity, light grass, light butter. Light sweet malty flavour, light sour touch, somewhat metallic, light bitterness. Rather short finish. Reminding of Kölsch, as a light top fermening beer.
Nice to see Palm experimenting with hops again.

37.5cl Bottle at Lemmy’s in Leiden. Only 5 ratings so far, wow. Clear light orange amber colour, white head. Aroma is light sweet, fruity, floral, light hoppy, some toasted malts and caramel, touch of metal. Flavour is medium sweet, slightly dry, a bit of stonefruits, floral, light bitter grassy hoppy finish. Light bodied. Nice, albeit a bit watery.

Bottle @ VBPF’12.

24/III/2012 - 37,5cl bottle @ VBPF '12 (Jette) - BB: n/a (2012-274)

Little cloudy orange beer, big creamy yellowish head, very stable, foam sticks in heavy flocks to the glass. Thinking foam enhancers. Aroma: very fruity, lots of peaches, bit of yeast touch. MF: lots of carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very fruity, peaches, sweet mango, some pineapple, some citrus, bitter hops. Aftertaste: little cheesy, dairy, still fruity, citrus, grapefruit, bit metallic.

Small white head over orange-ochre beer, medium carbonation. Notwithstanding being served in a top-Palm outlet, served wàààày too cold. And I’m pretty relax on that point, usually. Vanilla & hops, in a strange combination, slightly suggesting astringency in the nose, faint smell of garden weeds. Cookie malts & decent, unobtrusive EU-hops. Sweetness present, bit fruity, but immediately overwhelmed by the hops. Unfortunately, they are grassy at best. This would benefit enormously from a dose of Amarillo, Galena, Citra,... dry hopping. Feels much more carbonated than the visual suggests. Medium bodied. Good beer, no doubt. But as for the excitement... please? Citric hops...?
