The latest beer in our experimental Abstrakt series. Fans of Bashah Special Reserve get excited: for it is deep within that collaborative gem that AB:12 found it’s liquid inspiration. AB:12, which has just been transferred from oak casks back into one of our tanks, is a 11.2% imperial black Belgian ale which has been aged for 8 months in single grain Scotch whisky casks with a medley of fresh Scottish berries (tayberries, blackberries & raspberries).

Bottle shared by tderoeck. Nice hoppy nose, spicy, ginger, citrus, blackberry, some licorice. Huge berry flavor, cassis, blackberry, chocolate, licorice, earthy hops, citrus. Very jammy and fruity. Nice. Earthy bitterness plus light booze, maybe whiskey balances.

Opaque black - brown beer. Massive tan head. Palate is light and airy. Light and slightly bitter lactose. Mild barrel induced esters and barely-there whisky. Nice tangy fruits, a good blend of raspberry and dark fruits. It’s all pretty well joined up and very light for it’s abv. Dry finish.

Abstrakt 01 - 25 Vertical @ Brewdog Sheps Bush. Opaque dark brown beer, short lived bubbly tan head. Palate is smooth, pretty modest carbonation. Decent smooth dark chocolate malts. Decent berry fruits with a nice tangy fruity whiskey backdrop. Light smooth finish. Spicy linger. It's lost carbonation but otherwise it's pretty close to it's original flavour. 3.5

hazy red, red-brown head. Aroma of berries, wood, roasted malts, and some phenolic notes. Flavor is red berries, wood, vanilla, marmelade, roasted malts, the alc. is too high for this kind of sweet fruity.

Bottle @ Brewdog Shoreditch. Black with small white head. A lot of different things going on here. Roasted aroma with chocolate, red berries and dried fruit. Taste is intensely fruity, slightly acidic with notes of chocolate with notes of oakiness from the barrels.
