On cask @ the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - dark brown to black and close to opaque - some red chinks. Nice head. Nose - mostly roast and chocolate with a raisin note. Taste - more of the roast and chocolate. The Saison sides comes through right at the finish with a fruity tang and a gentle spice. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a balanced dry finish. Overall - yep, enjoyable beer. Beer fusion that works well.

At the Factoberfest, Bristol, September 2014. Dark brown, with a thin, beige, head. Dense, slightly toasty malts, a touch of citrus hop and moderately bitter finish. Didn’t get any of the advertised additions, but good nonetheless.

Keg @ Euston Tap. Pours dark with creamy off-white head. Smooth mouthfeel with earthy malts, coal and pine hops with a subtle ginger zing before a coarse bitter finish. Surprised to see this classed as a Saison!

Euston Tap. Keg. Clear deep red - brown beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Good fine carbonation. Airy malts, a little cream, just very mellow dark character. A sweet ester in the mid is quickly overwhelmed by robust bitterness that tastes like equal parts of floral bitterness, woody bitterness and uhm just plain bitterness! Smooth finish leaves a long bitter linger. Yep a bitter bastard and not at all Saison like.

Keg at the Euston Tap, 03/10/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a moderate khaki covering that retains well. Nose is light spice, cocoa rub, ginger tones, orange and light tropical fruit infusion. Taste comprises root ginger, liqourice, spice, tar, light smoke, herbal notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok offering, ginger well evident.

Keg at the Euston Tap - London. Pours blak-brown with a lasting, creamy light khaki head. The nose has lightly roasted mals, burnt wheat, saison yeast, dough. Light-medium sweet flavor with lots of char, burnt cereal and earth, bittersweet chocolate, raisins. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Dry finish with lots more char and roast character, baking cocoa, some burnt pine, torched toast, minerals, earth. Lasting bitter char aftertaste. Not bad.

Cask at The State, Glasgow. It pours deep brown/black with a thick beige head. The nose is earthy, rich roast, pine, varnish, light spice and orange peel. The taste is bitter, pine, varnish, roasted malt, citrus peel, sherbet, spice and earth with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Almost black IPAesque....
