Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 29/10/2014. Medium brown in colour with a slight, off-white head. Sweet upfront, with some plum fruits and caramel, toasty malts that became increasingly dominant, and a whiff of smoke in the finish. Distinctive.

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Reddish chestnut with a tight cream head; aroma of lightly smoked malts; soft and gentle in the mouth with some malty caramel and light smoke that is pleasantly drinkable; then a dry, well-balanced, finish with some lingering acidic smoke.

Cask at the moon under water Watford. Dark amber / reddy coloured pour with a loose greyish cream head. Aroma is soggy dog, birch wood, campfire and a bit of saisage. Flavour is nice smoked meat, salty salami, a bit of veg and smoked malt. Nice Bamberg Germany character. Little apple in the finish. Palate is semi sweet, some salt, moderate carbonation. Pretty tasty the smoked malt is definitely to the fore and well integrated.
