Cask at the Falcon (JDW), High Wycombe. Reddish-amber with a moderate creamy head and a rather prickly fizz. Strong piney hops up front with spice attacking from behind. Quite a full-flavoured beer but somehow the balance isn’t quite there - the choice of hops doesn’t quite suit the malt somehow. Not bad though.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Golden amber with a thin beige head; the aroma has some pine and rye; in the mouth it’s full bodied and hoppy with grapefruit flavours predominating; the finish is dry with a touch of biscuit. Interesting, but needs an extra bucket of hops.

Cask at the Willow Walk, JDW - London. Pours clear, rich amber-gold with a frothy, tan head. The nose holds a bit of toasty bread, perfume, pine, flowers and orange rind. Light to medium sweet flavor with strong minerals, aome rocks and grains, dry bread, bitter pine, husks. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation; OK condition. A bit more smokey, flinty minerals on the finish, more dry and grainy bread, a bit of bitter citrus rind and pine. Perhaps a little off but still fair.

Cask @ Stick or Twist, Leeds. Brighter copper with a thin head. Full-bodied with a pleasant texture and a fair few hops that provide complex fruit tastes.

Cask at the moon under water Watford. Red amber coloured pour with a nice lasting cream head. Aroma is sweet berry, caramel malt and hint if smoke. Flavour comprises of piney, berry hop with a surprising smoked malt kick. Palate is medium sweet with tingling carbonation. Really nicely integrated smoked malts. Some rubber. I like this. Well done.

Gravity cask @ Wetherspoons, Milton Keynes. Reddish brown. Lively off-white head. Heady scent of red berries and cedar with notable astringency. Taste is unfocused at first, then sharpens to extreme bitter toward the finish. A surprisingly enjoyable ale.
