Cask at the Bird in Hand, Knowl Hill. Deep mahogany with a tight cream head and a bright copper gleam; aroma of treacle and molasses; taste of earthy malts, soft and with a slight sweetness; then a dry finish with burnt toast and some light caramel. A great reminder of a Midland mild.

Cask-conditioned at the Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria 28/5/2013. Dark brown with a frothy, off-white head. Toasty malts, chocolate and hedgerow fruit aroma, with a touch of leafy hop. Flavour was sweetish and malty, with some more fruit and gentle finish. Enjoyable.

[Cask at Reading BF] Brown with a large beige head. Roasted malt and - strangely - melon work surprisingly well together here, making for a nice, tasty, well-balanced mild.
