(Cask at Penderel’s Oak JDW, Holborn, London, 24 Nov 2010) Copper colour with brief, white head. Fruity, citric nose with notes of citrus, grass and wheat. Fruity taste with citrus, canned peaches, a slightly sourish wheat character and a light, grassy bitterness. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. A bit on the citric side, but decent.

3rd Novemeber 2010
Spoons Fest! Bright clear gold beer with a ghost of a head. Light palatem, low carbonation. A little citrus fruit in the background to some light wheaty malt. A little bit of sulphur lurking around. Finishes quite fruity. Not bad - good do with more wheat zing!

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Pale amber, moderate white head. Nothing really wheaty about this - it tastes like a traditional British bitter. A bit of biscuit, a hint of citrus. Unusually for Bateman’s, there’s a reasonable amount of hop bitterness in there. OK session ale.

Cask at the Gig House (JDW) , Wokingham.Clear amber with a thin white head; floury aroma; dry at first then a sweet wheaty flavour develops with a touch of pear drops; the finish is dry and floury and quite sharply bitter. Very enjoyable.
