Amber in colour, this is a traditional British bitter, with the hops used imparting a blackcurrant fruit character, superbly balanced by a rich maltiness in the finish.

Spoons Fest. Clear gold beer. Light semi dry palate. Light dry malt. Sweet and fruity hops - orange and lemon. Not bitter. Finishes dry with more citrus hop. Refreshing!

Cask at JDW ... amber ... unpleasant lemon sour nose ... sour zezty lemon ... light hop ... pretty much like the lady herself and totaly unpalatable.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading] Amber-gold, white head, slight fizz. Aroma, mouthfeel and initial taste of a cheap lager – cardboardy malt with dirty citrus hints. Redeems itself as sweet pineapple notes (sorry to add yet another fruit to the veritable cornucopia in previous ratings!) grow with time, with a decent hoppy bitter finish. OK overall, although I’m not sure I’d have it again.

Cask-conditioned at the Savoy (JDW), Swindon 29/10/09. Pale amber with a slight white head. Grassy hop, sweet malts and apricot aroma. Flavour was sweetish, with some more fruits, leading to a spicy, yeasty finish. Ok.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Amber with a thin white head; aroma of hay and heafy hops; fruity hop flavour and a dry hoppy finish. Rather plain, but OK.

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto, JDW, Folkestone. Copper gold colour with thin disappearing off white head. It’s a bitter. Exactly what you would expect. Some hop sting on finish. It’s a bitter. It’s alright, some biscuit malt, some hop on finish.
