This new beer, for 2009, takes its name from the legendary Oasis song and is the perfect beer for any celebration: dark mahogany in colour, with a rich, fruity taste and undertones of liquorice and chocolate.

Zwart met lichtbruine transparantie, licht gebruinde mooi dunne schuimkraag. Licht geroosterd, verder weinig geur. Koffie, gebrande suiker, sinaasappel, smooth. #mild

Cask at the Cannie Man, Bracknell. An opaque, peaty black colour with a dense cream head; nutty toffee aroma; and a rather thin milky body with a malty taste and a weak finish. Not the best mild I’ve come across.

Cask @ The Unicorn, Manchester. Extremely dark reddish-brown with a thick slightly off-white frothy head. Has minimal dark malts with a very light sweetness, but has a nice smooth palatable texture.

Spoons Fest. Clear dark brown beer. Light and slighly dry palate. Low carbonation. Sweet malt with a strong streak of fresh apple which carries through to the semi dry finish. Way too green.

Vibrant golden accented golden-brown. Thin head. Dark fruits on the nose with some dark sugars as well. Nothing too specific. Very light - not much character - so thin - just some vague sugars and fruits. One of the milder milds that I’ve come across. A little bit of acidity at the back lends balance.

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto, JDW, Folkestone. Black, with dark ruby hints, lasting beige head. This is a pretty decent fruity mild. Really good dark juicy fruits, some good dark malt on aroma. Really drinkable and great fruity mild. Awesome, I thought, as I finished the glass.

[Cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Deep brown with a small, loose, off-white head. The huge, fruity aroma fails to be fully reflected in this rather weak, watery beer. There’s a dry woody mouthfeel, a little fruit and smoke, but ultimately it rather disappoints the expectations that the aroma built up.

Cask-conditioned at the JDW in Staple Hill, Bristol 30/10/09. Dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, red fruits and a touch of roastiness. Sweet flavour with a dryish finish. Ok.
