They say there’s no such thing as a free meal – but as you wind your way through wooded hills towards the tiny village of Cranborne, you might chance upon a charming rogue who says differently.
For years, the Cranborne Poacher has roamed these parts, outwitting both authority and prey in pursuit of pilfered plums and a pheasant for his pot.
Crystal and chocolate malts provide a full-bodied taste with sweet, complex flavours of damson and liquorice.

Bottle at home. Part of a 4-pack gift ’sett’. Mid brown, translucent. Bit of white head and nice lacing. The aroma is composed very largely of plums - I’m not getting the liquorice but there is chocolate and honey as well. The taste is initially sweet, but far from sickly. Bitterness rises up to curb the sweetness, and the result is a long, flavourful sip. Aftertaste a bit too tangy for me. In conclusion, the best Badger ale I’ve had so far. Lovely.

Bottle from Waitrose [160413]
Reddish dark amber, clear, frothy white head
Aroma of red berries, hint of strawberry, sweet fruits, some yeast, touch of fruit bubble gum, soft roasted malts, sweet caramel malts, artificial fruity notes
Taste of fruity brown malts, hedgerow woody hops, artificial fruits, bit yeasty, red berries, touch of minerals, little liquorice, rather odd flavour
Palate - Soft to medium carb, medium body, bit oily, little sticky, fruity soft bitter. Finish a bit dry, bitter English hops, bit of yeast on the tail
Overall - It’s a mixed bag, come across as rather odd, bit artificial - my opinion of the beer lowered the more I had of it

Appearance: Deep brownish color with a fine tan head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Sweet fruity (plum side).
Palate: Medium body. Sweet and a light bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Weird fruity on a solid malty background.
Overall impression: I am usually a Badger fan, but this one…...
Personal stats: Bottle from local grocery store in Liverpool, England.

500 ml brown bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.7%. Clear brown colour, moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of damson / plums, over-ripe raspberries and some weird fruity cough syrup I bought in Scotland once. The flavour is fruity and slightly roasty, notes of plums, over-ripe raspberries and cough syrup again. Moderate hops. Pretty weird beer.

Bottle, pours a reddish brown colour with small head. Strong emphasis on berries, rather over-poweringly, bitter-sweet. Aftertaste not unlike a fruit yogurt.

Bottle 0.5l from Oluthuone Leskinen, Oulu. Colour is reddish brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours are berries, raspberry and alcohol. Texture is like strawberry lemonade with vodka. Just horrible.

Bottle shared from Deanso. Pours clear amber with a tan head. Aroma of massive licorice, floral, some spice, caramel and a little fruit. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, bringing together the strange combination of tastes pretty well. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A very unusual but good beer.
