An award winning Pale Ale, smooth in body with a distinctive flavour profile, and a decidedly fresh taste. Refreshing characteristics balanced with rich malt complexity and a bitterness that lingers to the finish. Medals: Silver - Commonwealth Cup 2015. Bronze - Dublin Craft Beer Cup 2015. Bronze - Dublin Craft Beer Cup 2013

South Africa - SUCH a fun team to watch. Great passion, great drive to push on even with their backs to the wall. This beer however, is the second beer I’ve had from this brewery where it doesn’t match pics at all. Malty, caramel, boozy, strong.

340ml bottle bought onlibe from St Marcus (a shop in the UK that deal mostly in SA goods) and drunk at home. Weak iced tea brown, clear with a small off-white head. Light aroma, mostly caramel. Taste is bittersweet with light notes of caramel, sweet spice, stone fruit and citrus peel. Shirt to medium finish, heavily carbonated. These beers are really simple but nicely put together.

Keg at Kamili Coffee House. It pours hazy amber with a thick off-white head. The aroma is sweet, big strawberry character, jammy fruits, Victoria sponge and bread. The taste is crisp, bitter - sweet, tinned grapefruit, peach, persimmon, strawberry compote, jam, bread, grass and biscuit with a smooth, fruity finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Interesting strawberry character to it. Decent.

Crisp light amber coloured body with a copper glow and a rather thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of toast, earth, metal, copper and a bit of light fruits. Medium-bodied; Strong toasty flavour with some grain and alcohol noticeable, but more of a subdued cereal and grainy flavour than most anything else. Aftertaste shows the toast and malt but not much of the hops or light complexity - just blandish. Overall, a decent beer with some good profiles but nothing extraordinary. I sampled this 440 mL bottle purchased from Tops at Green Point (Cape Quarter) in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa earlier today on 14-August-2015 for 32,10 ZAR sampled in my hotel room just a few blocks away in Central Cape Town on 14-August-2015 just a few hours later.

Draught at The Foundry, Johannesburg
Hazy dark blond color. It has a malty aroma with a bit of citrusy character. Dry mouthfeel with a good zesty aftertaste; correct bitterness level.
