Savanna Premium Cider first Siyavanna’d in 1996. Damn, we’re older than Black Twitter. But you know in 27 years you lay down a lot of roots. And like the trees our apples are grown on, our roots go deep. Which means though a lot has changed since ’96 – the way we bring Savanna to the people hasn’t, and never will. Because Siyavanna South Africa.

Bottle at 6% consumed in Windhoek. It pours clear yellow - gold with a small fizzy white head. The aroma is sweet, sticky apple juice from concentrate, candy and white sugar. The taste is initially crisp, touch of fruity tartness, sweet apple, apple pie, apple tango and some white sugar. Finish is dryish. Medium body and average, fizzy carbonation. Not a huge amount to it, but it snot that bade really. Alcoholic apple juice.

Bottle from the Savanna (South African shop) at Liverpool Street Station. Pours pale gold with a large but short lasting white head. Aroma of light apple, also seemed a touch of honey. Medium sweetness, very light sour edge. Light body, oily texture, soft carbonation after the initial fizz quickly dies down. Better than most mainstream ciders available in U.K. Finish is slightly dry and quite sweet.

Eher wässriger Antrunk nach roten Äpfeln. Sehr süffig, ausgewogen süß-säuerlich. Spritzig, wässrige Ähnlichkeiten zu Weißwein. Nett. 8/9/9/10/10/9

Clear yellow, fizzy head, sparkling. Nice apple aroma. Flavour is sweetish, has a little sourness. Slightly watery. Carb is lower than expected which is nice.

Gylden brun klar med svært lavt hvitt skum som forsvinner fort. Lukter epler og noe trevirke. Samme i smak, middels sødme. Kort

Bottle from B&M, Halifax. Golden-yellow coloured cider. Has a full apple aroma with a sweetness, with a fair taste that gets better stated in its lingering aftertaste, with a slightly lighter sweetness.

330ml bottle @ 5%, brewed by Konings NV, Belgium. Clear pale golden colour with a fizzy white head dissipating quickly. Aroma is fairly mild apples, mild sweetness. Taste is the same, fresh apples and some sweetness, dry finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Nice.

Bottle at Park Bar, Reading University. Pale gold and very fizzy. Dry? Are they allowed to call it that when it’s actually horribly, horribly sweet? Little evidence of apples, but a whole lot of evidence of sugar. Very sticky. Straying into alcopop territory. Ghastly.
