Stor beska i klassisk amerikansk stil. På ett sätt enkelspårigt med en uppskruvad sötma, men också gott i all sin enkelhet.

Bottle: Poured a caramel clear with off-white head. Aroma is hoppy and malt. Taste is sweet malty with earthy hops undertone.

Bottle from QClub at home. Transparent deep copper amber pour with persistent thin white head. Aroma is dank hops, candied fruit, plum, wood, vanilla, sharp alcohol. Taste is pretty good - big bitter pine hops with stone fruit and toffee sweetness, and lots of alcohol. Lasting warm boozy bitterness. Slightly rich palate, not too heavy. Very warming. Like a less than fresh straightforward pine DIPA, with more toffee and stone fruit. Nice.

(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with treacle-toffee, apricot marmalade, dark bread, brown sugar, burnt rubber and resin. Malty, fruity, hoppy taste with notes of dried apricots, treacle-toffee, dried fruit, brown sugar, pine needles, grapefruit, burnt rubber and a balanced resiny bitterness in a finish with some alcohol. Medium body, quite sweet. A bit harsh, but really tasty. Nice one.

12 oz bottle on 15th Jan 2018, into a Lowenbrau (Munchen) at my daughters in California while on holiday. Amber/bronze body, clear and clean, frothy off-white head. Hoppy aroma (piney and earthy) leading to a semi-bitter taste, no where near as sweet as I expected looking at the label and beer name suggested. Not really a Barley Wine in my eyes, but a decent enough beer all the same.

Hazy rust colored pour with a beige head and great retention. Great lacing. Not what I was expecting. Yes there is some sweetness of burnt sugar and dark molasses, but overall way too hoppy. The 9.84 ABV is fairly well hidden.

Sample at Jane Doe’s Östersund. Like drinking yummy molasses and brown sugar but not overpoweringly sweet. Would like to try more. (23/2/17) ---------------- Tap at Bishops Arms Östersund. Just a wee bit too sweet for my liking but annars good. 3.6 to 3.2 (3/5/19) ---------------- Re-rated, same condition. 3.2 to 2.8. I just dont believe the old hops work with the level of sweetness here.

Pours out a nice copper caramel color with a thick slightly off white head. Hop, pine, grapefruit, and brown sugar aroma, kind of a thick smell. Smooth malt taste, lot of dark sugar, nicely balanced. OK, maybe a touch too much sugar, but I like it. Hoppy up front, malty in the middle, and then ends slightly sweet with a hop bitterness on the back of the tongue. Now that I am at the end of the glass, sneaky alcohol. You have been warned.

Oddball brew, offering up mountains of burnt sugar sweetness yet hanging onto a noticeable hop herbaceousness. Looks gorgoeus, and the nose is straight Barleywine, but the taste becomes something unique, sweet yet with a toasted, boozy middle and an ever-present hoppiness. Finishes bitter and bold. Nice.
