Smell of red berries. Very dark brown colour, high light brown head. Aroma of berries, red wine, oak. Very lively carbon, bitter with some sweetness. Heavy body, fizzy palate.

A dark brown beer, a head is fluffy, big and beige. Aroma has cherries, some sourness and balsamico, also hint of chocolate malts. Taste has fruitness of cherries, some dark maltyness, some sourness. Medium bodied, fresh to drink. More strenght body would be nice. This beer is not what I expected, not a normal Brown Ale, strong notes from the style of Sour Red. Quite good beer but not even close the top brew.

Bottle, at Kristiansand Ølfestival. An unclear brown beer with a big beige head. Vinegar notes on the nose, with berries, caramel, oak hints and some alcohol. It’s quite sweet on the palate, full-bodied and nicely carbonated, with a warming feeling. Caramel, oak, berries and some vinegar in the flavor, leading to a lasting finish. A delicious beer I would like to have more of. Dangerously easy drinkable. 150822

330 ml bottle, batch #926/950, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Hazy dark brown colour, huge beige head. Very nice aroma of malts, oak, dark fruits, oaked wine and red wine vinegar. The flavour is moderately fruity sour and not too sweet, again with notes of oak / oaked wine, tannins and hints of red wine vinegar. Noticeable hops in the finish. Easy drinking for its strength. A very good beer from Nøgne Ø!

Nice slightly bubbly mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry and rich, oak, minerals, red berries, alcohol, berry skin, weeds, caramel malts, dark sugar, grass, hay, candied sugar. Taste is slightly dry mineraly, oak, minerals, berry skin, bark, red berries, weeds, grass, candied sugar. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mineraly mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Sample from bottle @ BØ 15, served with a slice of brown Norwegian goat’s cheese on the side. Pours maroon, with a big creamy head. Aroma is tart, with wood, dried fruits and light farmyard notes, as well roasted malts with cereals and caramel. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is tart with wooden notes, oak barrels, dried fruits and tannins, as well as roasted malts with bread.

Medium deep beige head. Deep opaque brown goes hazy reddish at the edges. Earthy funky wooden aroma with vinegary fruity notes. Sweetish earthy funky wooden taste with fruity spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel, followed by quite a bit of heat. Sweetish earthy funky wooden aftertaste with sugary cherry notes. Traces of diacetyl. Interesting. So like an oud bruin, but sweeter and stronger, and much softer. Nice. Well balanced, harmonic. (0.33l bottle, gift from the brewery. Batch #926 and 950.)

Sampled from bottle @ Kristiansand ølfestival 2015. Slightly unclear brown body with a rather small off-white head. Aroma has dark malt, lots of dry fruit, wood, hint of chocolate and red wine with some acidity. Flavor is more than less the same as aroma, very smooth with elements from wood and acidity well integrated in the flavor. Much flavor but no sharp edges. Alcohol is dangerous well hidden. Highly enjoyable.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Decent fine carbonation. Tangy dark malts, fluffy creamy sweetness. A light Coca Cola and Dr Pepper thing going on here. Mild brett in there as well. Light finish. Curious but interesting. Hides the abv well.
