Fles 75cl thuis. Lekkere warme smaak, goede balans. Zacht en toch heel licht scherp. (2-2013).

Bottle at home. Two years old. Pours a murky yellow colour with a frothy grey-white medium head. The aroma is pretty fruity and sour with belgian yeast, gooseberries, apple cider vinegar and some cinnamon, and feels vinous. The flavour is wonderfully complex and rich with a touch of fruity apples, pale malt and belgian yeast. It still has a nice sourness and a sweet ending. Rich and soft mouthfeel, and a light to medium bitterness. A really nice and rich ale. Its well-balanced, and a mix between a sour ale and strong light belgian ale.

shared with the guys @ gollem, in champagne glasses . no real scent, coloured gold, yellowish. much carbonation ( that stays longer than with champagne, of course ) tastes real sweet, carbonation like champagne ( cava ,... ) tastes kinda like beer. i’d definetly prefer this over the cava -like things, but i’d prefer ( good ) beer above this. it also has a hint of this perfume that rapes deus completely. this ones drinkable, not waaw.

75 cl. bottle sampled @ ZBF 2012 // slightly hazy golden with a white head // muted herbal hops, slight sweet lemon drops, slight fruits & spices // taste is sweet lemon drops, citrus, herbal, sweet candy & dried fruits, lots of yeast (half champagne / half Belgian), honey,… // very lively carbonation, okay / still not terribly existed about Champagne beers

Jan 2010: A free gift from the lovely Rudi from the BierBoom shop and bar in Brugge. Poured into four flutes along with the really expensive Dues (Brut des Flanders) also poured to have a straight comparison. This beer won hands down in all aspects, by far the best Champagne beer I’ve had to date. The beer had a slight mist to it and was a very pale yellow in colour, the pure white head left some good lacing on the glass. The aroma had a pleasant bitter citrus feel. The taste was a mix of peaches and citrus fruits, it had a sweet top and a bitter finish, smooth yet highly carbonated, very champagne in its overal feel in the mouth. Because of the sparkling champagne likeness the alcohol didn’t show at all, very easy to drink. Impressed!

750ml bottle

Pours dark yellow with a tiny white head. Aroma has notes of fruits, spices and malts. Taste is quite strong and fruity with a lot of carbonation and spicy notes. Finish is strong and warming, alcohol comes slightly through. Tasty, well balanced strong Belgian ale.

75 cl bottle (11%) @ home, BBE 02.12.2012
Sweetish aroma with pear esther. Flavour is sweetish with pear esthers, some alcohol, belgian yeast and ripe fruits. Also a feeling of plastic glue due to all the pear esthers. Dry finish. Very foamy palate is too high on CO2.

75 cl bottle @ Dickie’s, Bruges. Rated on 15.07.2010
Fruity and sourish aroma with some spices and earthy notes. Flavour has spices, fruits and earthy notes. Really rich, tasty and good. One of the best blond belgian ales. 8-4-9-3-16 = 4.0
