12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 4/13/2015. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Okay aromas with solid complexity and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with poor strength. Taste of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy yeast spiciness/bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Solid complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with a solid malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is okay. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a decent brown ale, but it felt more like an English than a Belgian style. All around solid complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and pretty smooth and easy to drink. A fairly enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. Deep chestnut with a thin cream head; malty aroma; sweet caramel malt taste; and a smooth toffee finish with some lingering spicy malts. Not Belgian, not Abbey, but blandly drinkable.

Bottle. Pours amber with large creamy off-white head, doughy aroma with a hint of citrus, medium carbonation, caramel taste, sweetish finish. A bit too sweet

12 oz bottle, part of the World Market winter 9 bottle mix pack, courtesy of my in-laws. The pour is clear brown ruby with a smallish off white head. The aroma is sweet cough drop sweet along with grain malt. The taste is a weird cloy sweetness, very much the cough syrup sweetness of the nose. Not much beyond that character. The palate is medium to light bodied with soft carbonation and the sweet cloy finish. Overall, weird beer not that pleasant.

Pours amber from the bottle. Roasty caramel notes in the nose, khaki head. Flavor is carries some of those caramel notes.

Bottle. Suitable brown color of an abbey ale, with a bit of ruby highlight. A Belgian sugar smell and taste, just at the edge of being too sugary. Works out all right.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a hazy brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light speckled lacing clinging here and there but sliding after a while.
The smell was light cinnamon with a soapy citrus. Light vanilla came in decently.
The taste was mainly sweet and soapy.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it if I could look past the soapiness. It came across fairly smooth over my tongue.
Overall, if I could look past the soapiness this might not bad. But given that this is not an English style, Iβm not sure where the soapiness is coming from. I probably wouldnβt have this again.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel brown color with a huge foamy orange-beige head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy sour caramel, a bit vegetal, some dark fruits and tobacco. The flavor was tangy bread, honey, caramel, dark fruits and a bit of perfume. Medium length finish. Medium body. Tasty.

12 oz bottle. Pours a reddish brown with light foamy head. Aromas of caramel and malt extract. Flavors of watery brown sugar and sour malt extract. A hint of what a good beer starts with but in general a miss.
