Can at my buddys Broken Liver barleywine tasting. Really strong coffee flavor. Like i was licking the gum at the bottom of a coffee pot. Very boozy also. Interesting, but not really my thing.

Can. Pours clear deep reddish hazel with a medium tan creamy head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is really all about the coffee, with perhaps some molasses and chocolate thrown in. Flavor is much the same, coffee forward and not a whole lot else. Light sweet, light bitter growing to medium on the finish. Some acidity. Medium plus body, high carbonation, creamy. ABV very well masked. A nice beer, but a bit one dimensional.

Black Country Beano. Outbound train tasting! Thanks to Ian. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and slightly soft. Fine carbonation. Nice dark chocolate malt. Little mellow coffee. Light lactose. Touch of dark fruits. Finishes smooth with a mildly bitter coffee aftertaste. Drinks well below it’s abv. Nice beer!

Can on the Black Country Train Tasting Part I, 06/07/13, thanks to Ian for this share. Dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that dissipates to a film. Nose is roast malt, sweet sugars, vanilla, chocolate, coffee notes. Taste comprises bitter roast, cocoa, espresso, light booze, dark malt, touch of spice. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation , dry roasty finish. Decent.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a dense, three centimetre tall brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, oak, alcohol, chocolate, a hint of coffee and a little bit of fruits. Full-bodied; Strong lactic flavours with a lot of cream, a dense chocolate and sweet flavour and a pungent earthy malt note. Aftertaste shows some sweet notes, a lot of alcohol flavours and a robust, slightly bitter finish. Overall, a nice deep and pungent beer with a nice subtle sweetness and a lot of malt depth and bitterness. I sampled this slim twelve ounce can purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 02-April-2013 for US$4.49 sampled at home in Washington on 28-June-2013.

Pours deep brown into a snifter. Mocha head recedes leaving no lacing to hug rim. Nasty sour, stale coffee aromas. Medium bodied with chocolate and espresso front to back. The taste is really so much better than the aroma it’s striking.
