Ola Dubh 16yr tasting notes: On the nose, Ola Dubh 16 has aromas of whisky and sweet roasted malt. The whisky forward flavour is rich with coffee, chocolate and caramel notes all shining through. This ale strikes a sensational balance of fruity sweetness with a complex bitter hop background.

# 4863; 1/2026. Bottle no. 05341, February 21. Raisin in chocolate, almonds, chocolate, figs, slightly peat aroma. Dark brown body; tiny tany head. Chocolate, heavy red wine, roasted almonds, figs, dried fruits, peaty. Full body; low carbonation, viscous. Excellent BA stout/old ale. 0,33 l, bottle, e-shop, Prague.

Pitch black colour with small head.Aroma of dark drid fruit raisins and prunes nice oily texture with a slight note of whisky and earth nice smooth and well balanced mouth feels nice by style overall beer.

A- Black color, dark liquid, minimal tan head.
A- Smoky, soy sauce, oak, slightly roasty.
F- Roasty, cocoa, smoke, soy, mild whisky.
T- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, umami finish.
O- The 12 year was okay, so wasn't sure how it would be with the rest of these as I bought one of each year. This was awesome. The 16 imparts tons more smoke and rich umami flavor. The whisky is not booze but comes forward with some oak and very dark fruits. Not too sweet. Liked this one.

Bubbly off white head on a near black still body.
Coffee, malt & boozy whisky aroma.
Medium bodied smooth with a clean back.
Malt, toffee, raisin & whisky tastes with a smooth boozy finish.

looks like a stout it’s so black. Like the 12, there is an aroma of soy sauce, and teriyaki beer jerky, but it’s not as prominent. There is much more oak, and smoke, and some charred wood in the aroma. The aroma in this one is much more complex. The flavor is also more complex. Lots of woody notes, some char, and smoke, and a touch of the beer jerky. The alcohol seems to be more upfront also, i’m getting some alcohol burn that i didnt get in the 12. I think i prefer this one, but not by much.

Bottle from Corks of North Street, Bristol. March 2022 bottle. Pours near black, dissipating tan foam. Aroma: roasted malts, mild toffee, smoky whisky barrel, vanilla. Taste: moderate sweet, more whisky barrel, dark berries. Semi dry on the palate. Surprisingly thin body, light carbonation

2017 bottle. Black with a creamy, beige head. Oak aroma with black currant and dark chocolate. Taste is bitter with a touch of toffee sweetness, an indistinct fruitiness, and plenty of ashes at the finish. Body to the full side of medium, very mild carbonation—not surprising I suppose for a seven year old bottle. Pleasant.

Bottle. Hydes got me this I think. February 21 by the looks. Nearly black. Slim sticky tan head. Bit of bonfire toffee. Nice sweet stone fruit. Taste is pretty sweet with some caramelised bitterness. Smooth for sure. Fruity finish with some of the whisky barrel coming through. Nice.
