27/XII/14 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ holidays - BB: VII/2016 (2014-1542)
Clear red brown beer, irregular creamy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: some caramel, hay, bit malty, some shellfish (oyster) or maybe it's just a bit saline, weird in any case, bit metallic, sweet. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: malty start, caramel, some overripe fruits, sugary. Aftertaste: lots of caramel, some alcohol, banana, little bitter, sugary.

Dubbel with light beige, thin but stable, creamy and sticky head and very dark wine-reddish brown colour, clear with large (but not too scary) protein flakes. Malty aroma unfortunately dominated by H2S (rotten egg), which ruins it for the blueberry, brown sugar, pear, bayleaf, coriander and banana impressions. Fruity, sweet taste with sourish accent probably due to the bacterial infection also responsible for the H2S; malty, caramelly, resinous, liquorice touch, very light roastedness in the finish, bit thin. Could have been better without the infection and with a little more aromatic hops, perhaps.

Decent dubbel, brewed in honor of the Belgian arist /cartoonist Herve. Nothing exceptional, but pretty good all around. Pours dark brown with small beige, slick head.Aroma is burnt toast, molasses and dried fruit. taste is roast grains, with very dry finish. A novelty beer, but not too bad.

(Draught at Delirium Tap Bar, Brussels, 20 Oct 2012) Dark reddish brown colour with dense, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, raisins, prunes and dark rye bread. Malty taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, liquorice, brown sugar, dark rye bread and a gentle herbal bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. A bit different, but quite nice.
