Near black body with a thick pillowy tan head. A soft nose features a touch of fruity hops, toast and a hint of chocolate. This is a relatively mild, well blended, smooth and clean Black IPA. The citrus hops are there with a slightly grassy edge. Mild chocolate and toasted bread are well integrated. There is less malt presence than many in this category. Enjoyable.

Bottle from the brewery. I’m very confused, description says opaque black pour, and so do the ratings. Well my beer is brown.... Looks like your typical brown ale. Ratings and descriptions talk about pine resin s and citrusy hops. I got nothing, no hops at all. What I got is a mild brown ale. Nutty, sweet, caramel malts. Overall I’m confused, makes me think this bottle was mislabeled or something is wrong here.

Nice brew from my neighbourhood (well one of, the Junction rocks for breweries) Am now Pro brewer Rainhard and of course Beaus. Pour stout black with a tan head, with a rich nose of pine and resin hop dominating. The taste is quite the mash-up of toasted caramel malts, and hop pop of resin, some pine and a lingering bitterness. Tasty. Well done both.

Bouteille 60cl partagée avec Tomaz via trade, merci Alex - Asheft. Bottled 01.06.16, batch# 4821.

Bottle: Poured a clear black color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some light citrusy hops notes is OK. Taste is a mix of some roasted malt notes with grassy citrusy hops notes and light bitter aftertaste. Body is light with good carbonation. Not bad but doesn’t really stands out for the style.

Pitch black pour with a big khaki head that leaves lots of lace. Nose is prominent dark chocolate and coffee with grassy hops and a bit of dark fruit and roasted nuts. Moderate coffee and hop bitterness with a light sweet malt support. Medium slick mouth with average carbonation and a lingering bitter finish.

Bouteille 600ml. Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka pâle persistante, particule en suspension. Arôme de malt torréfié, terreux, quelque chose de "off". Goût de malt torréfié, café, amertume moyenne-faible, houblon peu présent, légère acidité, terreux, un peu " harsh". Carbonatation moyenne-faible, corps moyen. Serais-je tombé sur une mauvaise bouteille?

On cask at the Arrow & Loon. Pours a medium-dark brown colour with reddish highlights. The head is bubbly with minimal lacing (typical for cask). Coffee nose with fruity malt notes. Mild roasted malt with some decent hops that get a little stronger in the finish. Light dryness in the mouthfeel. Pretty smooth overall, which means the alcohol is well-hidden. Gets stronger all-around with time, so good to drink slowly.

A murky dark brown ipa with a thick frothy mocha head. In aroma, smooth grassy chocolate malt with light floral hops, light citrus notes, pleasant. In mouth, a nice fruity chocolate malt with grassy floral hops, grapefruit pulp, light tropical fruits, light menthol, nice. On tap at Local Lansdowne.
