Indigo, the colour of the sixth, or 'third eye' chakra. It opens the door to the divine. Our senses become finer and we awaken within. Clarity. The bridge between heaven and earth. A connection to our sixth sense.

Anja is a collaboration pulling together forms of divine wild creation: Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus. Yeast and bacteria. They take us on a journey, as humans, from the earth to the heavens. From the earth to the heavens, energy broken down and laid back to the ground, ready for our next life.

Here they work in unison to primary ferment in oak barrels sourced from the remotes of Burgundy. Blueberry and juniper, fruits representational of the third chakra were crushed and added into the process at different stages.

The beer was then aged for nine months in the wood, blended and bottled.

Anja is fluid. Constantly changing. Morphing and evolving. Explore the depths of the flavour and aromas. Look beyond the beer.

Drink fresh or age.

Bottle at home in London - many thanks to Matteo for hooking it up. Pours hazy, bloody red with a somewhat flimsy, fluffy pink head. Nice aroma, some mellow funk, raspberries, blueberries, a bit of oaky wood. Light sweet flavor with a mellow herbal note, tangy berries, some raspberry seeds, mild tannin, a little bit of lemon. Light bodied with average, spritzy carbonation. Clean finish, tart, lightly acidic, with some woody dryness, slight funk. After letting the beer sit for a while, there’s a hint of butyric acid that starts to poke through. Good stuff overall. Quite lean.

Bottle from Beavertown thanks to Kenny for picking this up for me! It pours lightly hazy rich purple with a decent pinkish-white head. The nose is musty, funky, blueberry skin, berry yoghurt, wood, farmyard, manure, some acidity, earth and light spice. The taste is tart, earthy, musty, mouldy stuff, sweaty, blueberry skin, raspberry pip, light jaminess, dirt, barnyard, damp wood and tart green apple with a short, woody finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. A it dirty on the nose, but overall it is pretty nice. Original rate 3.5. I tried this again once it warmed up a touch... some celery and cream cheese notes come through, which puts me off a touch. Probably more like 3.3

Taste is tart lemon rind, berry fruity, grain, yeast, vinegar, woody oak and biscuit, hay notes. Light bodied, medium carbonation, dry tangy finish. Interesting, quite drinkable.

Bottle from the Rainbow launch event and drunk at home. Clear deep red colour lasting pink head. Berry and red fruits aroma with some sour yeast. Decent fruity sour, some nice red fruits in there. Some blueberry flavour later on. Bit over carbonated. The fruit lasts and lasts and I rather liked it.

Bottle courtesy of Geraint and Helen (thanks you two) had this at Stadt Camping, Groningen, Netherlands, Friday 2nd October 2015. It is dark here now so I had to ask Loz to turn on the internal camper lights to check out the colour (I am outside cooking a curry) Loz showed me the beer under the light it looked Strawberry. Loz noted a touch of meatiness on the nose, and amongst the oak and sour notes I agree with her. Tart and tangy in the mouth, I got a little bit of Rodenbach similarity, the oakiness shows as well, a fruity, zappy beast and one is enough but it’s good. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Keg @ Magic Rock Tap, Huddersfield. Rose red with a very thin head. A mix of sweet and sour, although predominantly the latter, but certainly not overly so. There’s a berry fruitiness in its taste.
