  Strong Ale - English Regular
Score
6.40
ABV: 6.5% IBU: 26 Ticks: 139
First brewed in 1998 to celebrate Shepherd Neame's tercentenary, this copper-bronze, bottle conditioned beauty is an intense yet uniquely intricate offering thrice-hopped during the brewing process. This adds rich resinous notes and spikes of citrus to a moreish strong ale already rife with notes of liquorice, Masala wine, caramel and spicy orange. A frisson of dark fruit freshens the finish.

0.5l bottle. Malty aroma, caramel, light coffee notes, light alcohol notes. Clear amber color, white head. Malty taste, coffee, caramel, alcohol notes, light to medium bitter. Full body, slick texture, soft to average carbonation and malty finish with caramel, coffee and light warming alcohol notes. Ok.

Bottle. Clear amber pour with nice frothy white head, that stays for quite a while. Aroma: clean biscuity malts and floral hops which are detectable from a foot distance. Medium body. Soft carbonation. Oily texture. Medium dry to medium sweet taste. Moderately malty. Biscuit cake. Minor caramel. A little hollow in the mid taste. Malts and hops try to play together on ending. The attempt is hardly a success as the lacking bitterness lets unwelcome metallic hints appear.

Bottle. Amber/copper with a very beautiful and even head. Aroma of nuts, toffee and fruits. Taste is nuts, caramell, toffee, floral hops, some fruits, a little bit of biscuit and slightly spicy. Nice hoppy bitterness and a little bit of alcoholic warmth in the aftertaste. Low to medium carbonation. Creamy. Very balanced. Lovely and just what I want from this style.

A classic English strong bitter. Strong malt, caramel and bitter hops with a forward alcohol flavour. A typical mouth feel and overall enjoyable.

Light reddish, a bit of carbonation. Big fluffy head, the slightest off-white, shows nice retention and a bit of lacing. Aroma is soft nutty and caramel malts, red fruits and a light resinous hint. Delicate but still quite intense. Taste follows the aroma, with a hint of alcohol warmth. Perfect sweet/bitter balance, maybe a bit less intense than the smell suggested. Medium body, low crispness, decently silky. A pleasant slow sipper

Kicsi, nem túl tartós hab, tiszta réz szín. Enyhe, kissé karamelles, almás, gyümölcsös illat. Karamelles, almás, barackos ízek. Hosszú, kesernyés lecsengés. Közepesen testes és keserű, markánsan szénsavas.

0.5l bottle. Clear deep orange body, thin off-white head. Aroma of bread, caramel, orange zest, pears and floral hops. Taste of bread, toast, caramel, pears, peach, nuts and floral hops. Fruity, sweet but still easy to drink. Nice for sure.
