Cask (Bridge Tavern, Newcastle) - Golden in colour. Elderflower, lemon and biscuity malt in the aroma. Elderflower and biscuity malt are in the taste. Not bad, but I love beers elderflower in it and I was hoping for a bit more from this one.

Bottle courtesy of Geraint & Helen (next door neighbours) big thanks! consumed at home 27th December 2013 with Loz and Dad Pours dark gold, clear with a white head. Fairly traditional golden ale. A little lemon in mouth, soft, bitterness isn’t that pronounced but is a little bitter, fruit forward initially its fine. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Rake. Cask. Clear golden beer, residual white head. Palate is light, semi dry and mildly crisp. Light pale malt. Elderflower is well integrated and not cloying. Finishes light and dry. Refreshing easy drinking.

Hand-pulled half-pint on 6th Dec 13 in The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Golden brew with lemon notes all over the place, couldn’t pick up any Elderberry esters or flavours like the brewery claim is around this brew. Too many citrus flavours for me. Medium bodied, but I don’t like citrus, golden brews and this is certainly one of those, really pleased I only had a half. Scored objectively (mostly).

Bottle from Deli in Llangollen. Pale gold with a moderate white head and a light sparkle. Unmistakable fresh elderflower aroma and flavour. Some lemon, white pepper and lemongrass comes through behind, leading to a middling bitterness in the lightly dry finish. It could be criticised by some for the beer playing second fiddle to the elderflower, but I like elderflower so that is fine by me! A lovely light summer refresher.

50cl bottle from Vinomondo. I enjoyed this but the thing that kind of lurked in the back of my head was that I’d rather be drinking a Williams Birds n Bees. Anyway, it’s blonde with a distinct elderflower note on the nose which hides a little of the sweet malt. However, this doesn’t come through quite enough on the taste and I generally feel this needs more hoppy bitterness to be a true summer ale. Good though.

Slightly clouded yellow ale, looks weak but has flavour. Fruity nose and similar tropical notes in the taste.

Draft at Walsall Beer Festival. Clear golden pour with a medium white head. Aroma is hoppy, slightly yeasty and light fruit. Flavours of citrus, yeast, fruit and caramel. Thin bodied with light carbonation.
