Pasteurised. Sold as Mr George’s Ruby Porter in the US due to trademark issues. A dark ruby beer with a rich flavour and spicy finish. The hop grist adds a hint of citrus to complement the roasted malt character. Dark, Delicious and Delectable.

Bottled 500ml. -from Biererei, Vienna. Brown coloured, medium sized beige head, malty caramellish nose. Slightly roasted malt, bitter chocolate and quite salty ( but only for a few minutes) with mild notes of dried fruits. Dry finish. Let’s say ok brew.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado (thanks!) Poured a very dark cola red body with a lasting head. Caramel, dark malts, dust and maybe figs in the slightly stale nose. Salty (!?), bitterish taste, vaguely roasty, nice notes of caramel (toffee even), soft chalkiness, nice acidity in the end. As it warms it loses the saltiness and gets ineresting, slightly more roasty and with more hop but still not the best porter around.

At Copenhagen Beer Festival. Dark ruby colour, nearly black. Moderate aroma of malts and caramel, with only modest roasty notes. The fairly refreshing flavour has some fruity notes, in addition to the moderate roasty notes. Nice and drinkable, but not very remarkable.

Bottle. Dark red brown with a coat of beige head. Aroma of pears, a little roasted malt, toffee. Quite rich dark caramel malt with lots of drying hops that don’t register much as bitterness but choke the sweetness and add a punchy spiciness. As ever with pasteurised English beers you wonder whether the slightly irritating carbonation is spoiling the flavour or hiding the deadness - but it’s nice enough not to let it sit long enough to find out.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear, medium brown with a modest, beige head. Sweet aroma with raisins, blueberries, prunes and light cocoa. Pretty nice flavor, more toffee and mocha, with hints of alcohol and some dry, woody bitterness. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Finishes with moderate dark malt sweetness, some brown sugar, chestnuts and mild roast. Good beer.

Very nice beer. Good roast and dark chocolate/cocoa in the finish. The aroma has lots of dark fruity malt and caramel. Some butterscotch but pleasant enough. There’s a mild bit of bitter citrus rind. Fairly sweet but ends dry, roasty and fruity. Very enjoyable beer. Mouthfeel is smooth.
