Brown beer, the lighter version of the well known Zatte Bie with the same brandy caramel taste.

Pours hazy dark brown with a quickly disappearing, off-white head. Brown sugar is noticeable in the aroma, as are caramel, toffee, chocolate and dried fruits. It tastes medium to heavy sweet but toned down by some yeasty bitterniss. Slick, but also a slightly watery texture, short finish and soft carbonation. Underwhelming, becomes a bit boring in the end. More of an (Abbey) Dubbel to me, certainly no Sweet Stout.

Zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is lichtzoet en licht rokerig, drop en anijs met port smaak. Erg goed bier, blijft redelijk lang hangen.

Something between a dubbel and a dry stout, with beige, sticky, creamy, stable head and very dark burgundy colour, almost blackish, misty. Dark malts in the nose, chocolate, candied dates, coffee powder, hazelnuts, brown sugar, ginger, blackberry, cloves, parsley. Candied fruits in the onset, soft sweetness, light carbonation, after which a surprisingly deep maltiness unfolds, caramelly, bit chocolatey and becoming even roasted bitter in the end, with spicy yeastiness and herbal hops in the background; some of the initial sweetness also lingers, perhaps a bit much. I’m sure this would have been a more than average beer otherwise.

zwart met kaki kraag aroma: moutig, zoet, chocolade, caramouten smaken: matig zoet, licht bitter, matig sterk, matig gemout, licht kruidig, zwakke body, dun van textuur, laag van co2, gebrande mouten, allemaal overigens maar erg zwak/slap, totaal niet interessant helaas

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. No BBF. Hazy reddish dark brown with a vanish creamy beige head. Smells like cheap fortified wine & cheap rum, thick liquorish, malts, winter spices, lots of cheap fortified red wine, brown sugar, very weird, bottle says 6 % ABV but this smell like at least the double of that. Taste is lots of bitter herbs & spices, liquorish, brown sugar, tastes of very strong fortified wine, rum, brown sugar, fermenting red grapes juice, feels both boozy & very watery, this is like some watered down horrible red wine moonshine or something. Very weird, why even this? Sweet Stout? I have difficulties calling this beer, taste-wise. Extremely messed-up but doable.

Bouteille 33cl, bb 01/2015.
