Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation. Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Didn't realise this has a separate entry. Lovely deep clear red, no head. Intense reduced balsamic vinegar and chocolate aroma, some cherries, lemon, almonds. Then it's mellower than that suggests. Low carbonation. Just short of syrupy. Sour, only slightly vinegary (ie less so than Grand Cru). A rumbling malty/ chocolaty richness that's unusual with fruit and wood floating on top. Lovely.

Bottle. Vintage 2016, Foeder nr 222. Color: Reddish brown, very thin beige head. Aroma: Sour and sweet, red fruit, vanilla, vinuous. Taste: Tart moderate to over moderate sourness, also moderate to over moderate sweet. Notes of red fruit and hints of sour apples, caramel, hints of vanilla and wood. Over medium body, under average to soft carbonation. Vinuous. Bit viscous and sirupy, dry-ish and bit sticky mouthfeel. Reminds me somehow of 'appelstroop'. Long lasting finish. Pretty complex, very well balanced. Great beer.

75cl bottle @ the beer tasting at the end of the world @ Chez Sophie, March '20. Clear deep brown, off white head. Fruity sour tart malt nose. Excellent tangy tart fruity character with deep malty murmurs.. nice breezy sour edge with some pleasant red berry and cherry notes. Very good.

Alltid en glede med flamsk rødt, og Rodenbach blir aldri feil. Kanskje litt for syrlig for en gamling som meg - men det får ikke hjelpe!
