Syrupy color with no head. Fruity and malty aroma. Flavor has a light roasted malt tone, lightly raspberry and fruit, with a light fusel alcohol finish. Not a drain pour but I debated it for a second.

Bottle. I think this beer is drastically underrated - yet another fruit beer getting discounted. Pours dark - yet clear - brown, with a very slight head. Aroma holds some dark chocolate, raspberries and raisins. Sweet flavor, plenty of chocolate, raspberries and other dark fruits. Faint roastiness, some malty sweetness throughout. Medium body, lively carbonation. Some syrupy sweetness, especially in the finish. Really, this is a good beer. The only complaint I may have is a mild medicinal quality. But the fruit flavor does not come across as artificial (like a lot of fruit beers) and adds a lovely layer to this standard Brown Ale. I enjoyed it.

Aroma: Faint fruit, light malt
Appearance: Brownish color, slight red hue, almost no head
Flavor: Roasted malts, some sweetness, light finish reminiscent of a Porter
Palate: Light body, watery
Overall Impression: I wouldn't call this a Fruit beer, more like a semi-watery Porter with a hint of Raspberry.

Tap @ Standings Bar. Pours with a nice thick head that sticks around for a while, never actually fades. The head sits atop a brown body with ruby tints. Aroma is roast-y chestnut and sweet nuttiness. I have not had such a nutty brew in a while, I was highly impressed. with the aroma and no raspberry to be found. Taste is clean nuttiness with a bit of sweet fruit at the very end of the flavor, would not even peg it as raspberry. It was surprisingly a good brown ale and definitely not a fruit beer. Maybe the draft is very different than the bottle because what I had was not as crappy as the ratings seem to indicate.

Bottle. A medium brown pour with little head and aromas of... well... not much besides trace amounts of brown sugar. Funny, but I was expecting raspberries. Anyhow, they come through in all their artificial flavoring glory in the flavor... starts off with a bit of a sweet toffee maltiness before heading to fake-raspberry-land. From there things take a turn south and head down the dreaded path of medicinal, rotten vegetation, cola funk. This definitely has its flaws, most of which are centered around the nasty aftertaste that I’m hoping will leave my mouth soon.

A clear mahoganny brown ale with a thick moka head. Raspberry mash with light chocolate notes. In moth, a light nuuty brown ale with raspberry juice and acidity, raspberry seeds, light coffee. Medium bodied. Tasted August 2008.

Bottle. Brown with a small off-white head. Bready and slightly fruity aroma. Very typical brown ale flavor with very very very slight raspberry.

Botle: Poured a murky brown with a tan color head. The aroma is coffee bean with chocolate/nuts. Taste is overwhelming coffee malt, if this had raspberry in it, then it was hidden well.

Bottle: Dark chestnut brown pour with a smaller beige head. Malty and earthy aroma with light chocolate tones and just a faint hint of fruity sweetness. Bready and earthy malts up front with raspberry coming through towards the tail. Again, bits of chocolate. Finishes a little bitter and metallic. Thanks beerbill for sending this as a bonus brew!

12oz bottle at New World in Tampa. Pours clear amber with decent tan head. I notice early on the label states “made with real raspberry flavor.” Not raspberries but raspberry flavor. So right off I’ve got syrupy sticky fruit extract on the mind. Sure enough the aroma is full of sweet sweet raspberry and nothing else. By the way, if the beer is infused with a bold syrupy fruitiness why not use a bolder base beer. The brown base was gone, nothing. The taste was like the aroma with syrup raspberry extract you might find at IHOP to put on pancakes as you dive head long into diabetic seizure. Again, a brown ale base?? COME ON!
