Black with lasting creamy head. Strong hop aroma. Quite resinous and piney. Very smooth. Really fresh and strong hoppy flavour with a dry finish. Some grassiness in the background.

Bottle shared at the Kernel - thanks to Rob. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. Lovely aroma, some zesty citrus, roast, toasted pine. Medium sweet flavor with good roast, minerals, ash, baking cocoa, orange. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Light resin on the finish, soft toast, charcoal, bitter cocoa, further citrus notes. Solid.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 25 Feb 2015) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of pine needles, black rye bread and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, black rye bread, pine needles and a fairly dry finish with a generous piney bitterness. Tasty and well made black IPA. Nice one.

Tap @ Cafe Briljant, medium sample. Dark brown color, medium head. Aroma of grapefruit, slight pine, bit citrus, slight flowery as well, some biscuit and cookie, slight roast. Medium bitter in taste, quite some malt to back it up. Creamy mouthfeel. Nicely balanced and easy drinker.

33cl Bottle from Sterk Avondverkoop. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of pine, laurel, ink, tiny bit fishy, roasted malts. Flavour is light sweet, liquorice, some laurel, pine, grapefruit, roasted malts, bitter finish, dry. Light bodied. Decent BIPA, but nothing really stands out here.

Bottle @ NS tasting. Murky dark brown color, small to average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, lightly dark malts, some hops, nicely fruity, roasted malts but also quite peppery and I think that should not be in a black IPA. Decent though.

Bottle shared. Pours murky dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of dish washing soap, fruity hops, malt, roast. Flavour is moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Black pepper coming out in the palate and lingering in the finish. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning. Not sure that this should be rateable, cause this is likely a homebrew. Very dark brown color. Big, dense beige head with some retention. Aroma’s: sweet malts, a little roasted, a bit butterscotch. Retronasal the hops start to come out. Flavor is moderate sweet with upcoming bitterness, somewhat roasted. Medium bodied. Carbonation is (at least in the beginning) a bit too high, later still quite prickly. Finishes with some roast and then bitter. A few minor adjustments and it’s ready for a full batch.
