Samuel Adams Latitude 48 Zeus IPA is brewed with only Zeus hops from the Yakima Valley area of WA. The hops are added at three points during the brewing process -- bittering, late kettle and dry hopping. Zeus Hops contribute bitterness and an intense, pungent resinous pine flavor. This brew leans strongly toward the hop character, but is softened by the malt’s sweetness.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a Shaker. Pours a very dark burnt orange with about half a finger of white head. Heavy aroma of sprucy hops. Taste is medium bitter. Very nice pine taste. Medium bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long, very bitter finish. Overall, very good. Something I would buy a 6pk of.

Bottle: Poured a light copper color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention. Aroma is dominated by resinous flavour with notes of citrus and some light dry caramel malt. Taste is also dominated by some resinous flavour with notes of dry caramel malt and some citrus notes are also discernable. Body is average with good carbonation. Interesting experiment and definitely a type of hops I would like to try again on its own.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Georgetown, DC. Pours a clear copper color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, some tropical notes and a caramel and toasted malt finish. The taste is earthy, herbal hops. Almost pine-like. Faint malts in the finish. Medium bodied.

12oz bottle pours clear deep copper with sort of light tan head. The aroma offers up a pretty decent load of spicy bitter hops, green citrus orange peel, grapefruit, lime and a bit of herb with soft sweet malts well off in the background. I kind of dig the tart green citrus going on in the aroma. The taste is similar with malt sweetened lime peel, some grapefruit, unripe orange peel and some bitter hop spiciness. The hops lean toward bittering hops and the flavor hops seem to be bitter somewhat in their own right. Nice one

This is a very unusual ipa. Light color color and slightly opaque. Aroma has mold and earth. It is pungent, and I taste and smell aged cheese. Not very sweet from the malt, but unusual flavors and aromas. I like it.

The pour produces a deep amber clear body that easily constructs a sticky, long lasting off white head above it. Earthy pine hop aroma. Mildly bitter with plenty of malt support next. The bitterness quickly passes into a dry finish. Easy drinking, not as hoppy as I expected it to be.

12 oz bottle. This one pours amber with some very fine particles and a slightly off-white head. Very mild grassy aroma is all I can detect. Herbal flavors lead the flavor with grassiness, small touches of grapefruit and pine at times. Grapefruit and pine build as I drink more, and this has quite a nice bitterness. Another tasty single-hop version here.

12 oz bottle from Sam Adams Lat 48 Deconstructed Pack from BevMo Salinas. Clear orange with a medium pale beige head. Nose is what I cal an ivy resinous aroma with contrasting caramel. Flavor is a different piney bitterness.

Yes, I bought the deconstructed farm on this marketing gimmick. Smells a little strong. Big bursting oily flavors like wew. Bitter long rude attitude on the pine nasty tar spruce finish. Terpentine anyone? Terribly on style. Nice to try to taste the difference in these brews.
