Old rating. Bottle from old town. Pours a dark brown with a modest tan head. Aromas of malt, chocolate, molasses and pine. Tastes more of the same with the molasses standing out as it comes to room temperature. Slightly sweet with a bitter finish. Full-bodied. Nice brown. --- Beer merged from original tick of Brown Ale on 10 Aug 2017 at 20:18. Original review text: Backlog

From bottle at Stavanger Airport Sola 09.03.15. Very dark brown. Pale brown head. Aroma of dark malt, dark caramel and chocolate. Taste of dark malt and coffe, with a slight hint of pine and refreshing citrus. Perhaps just the tiniest hint of smoke throughout.

A: Clear mahogany/prune juice color with a short tan head. Short duration. Spotty lace. S: Chocolate malt and Dr Pepper. T: Less chocolaty and more hop bitterness than the nose would imply. Less Dr. Pepper and more Coke. Nice Roast flavor. Refreshing taste but a bit thin. Actually could use a little sweetness. M: Tingly carbonation and light body for the style. Easy drinking though with just a bit of residual stickiness. O: Good, refreshing and tasty but a bit lacking in flavor complexity. Overall I can name several browns I like at least as much for the same price. Worth a try but don’t overthink it.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. A dark chestnut pour with a ring of translucent head; surprisingly hoppy aroma; thin and watery in the mouth with a sweet malty taste, and some fuzzy spice from the hops. Not at all what I was expecting.

Bottle at horecabeurs . Pours dark brown , small white head . Smell is sweet , bit earthy . Taste is chocolaty . Thin, rather weak body . Very tasteless ... ( plus Its funny how they call a 5,6 ABV beer a strong beer )

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at the Whole Foods in Coral Springs, Florida. The pour is a light haze brown golden with a smallish light tan head. The aroma is fresh nut, faint roast and a floral character. The taste is a nice blend of the nut, roast and floral. The palate is medium bodied with soft carbonation and a clean mineral finish. Nice.
