Adnams’ interpretation of an American IPA, made with wheat and pale ale malts alongside hops from England, Slovenia and America (specifically Boadicea, Columbus and Stryian Goldings). It was created under the instruction of company chairman Jonathan Adnams, who simply requested, ‘Brew something to wow me’. It was originally intended as a limited edition release to commemorate the opening of Adnams’ new brewhouse and distribution centre, and now forms part of the core range.

Bottled. Clear amber colour, moderate white well-lacing head. Aroma: biscuit, caramel, silphur, floral & fruity hops (not much of) Medium body. Bittersweet taste. Robust malts. A bit sulphury. Decent hopping still no proper hop brightness and freshness. Overall: not impressive.

0.33 l bottle from 'AH' (Den Bosch), bottled in August 2017. Clear, amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, fruity-grassy and slightly resiny aroma of orange jam, mango and some pine. Quite sweet, moderately bitter, fruity-grassy and slightly resiny taste of orange jam, mango, some pine and a touch of honey, followed by a medium long, dry-bitter, grassy and resiny finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very decent IPA, refreshing and well-balanced.

Half pint på Charlie's København nov-17: lett uklar gylden med flott skum som varer til siste dråpe. Deilig aroma og enda bedre smak med tropiske frukter, karamellkjeks, furunål, grapefrukt og aprikoser. Rund, fyldig og samtidig lett å helle over drøvelen.

Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma has crispy malt, caramel, peach and grapefruit. Taste of bitter caramel, orange zest, some pineapple, peach and grapefruit. Not very innovative, but nice nonetheless.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Albert Heijn Culemborg. Clear dark yellow with a thin white head. Hoppy malty aroma. Bitter taste. Strange IPA as the hops are not very pronounced yet the hopbitterness is quite strong. It's a mix of the English IPA maltiness and the USA IPA bitterness, without the hop strong aroma. I do like it though

Tried as Marks & Spencer Southwold Winter IPA in 500ml bottle. Golden colour with white head. Hop and fruity aroma, and almost sweet taste. Well balanced, and easy to drink for the strength.
