Préaris @ Café Congé tasting event by the Gentse Biervereniging, Ghent (26 October 2017). With Anke. Cheers to Andy, Erwin & Tim!
Vintage 2015. Pours hazy dark brown with a small, off-white head. The aroma contains red fruits, cognac, liquor, wine, wood, some chocolate and caramel. It tastes medium fruity sweet and light bitter; a tad hoppy, some warming alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. So alluring!

250 ml from tap at Antwaerps Bierhuyske. Served in flute. Nice dark brown colour. Fantastic aroma. Cognac. Cherry Liquor. Vermouth. Spices. Caramel. Not that malty though. Bittersweet taste. Soft carbonation. Thick oily texture. Full body. Long and intense finish. Great!

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, 2014 edition bottle no 04209, BB 13/02/18, large sample. Hazy dark color, medium frothy head. Aroma of raisin, slight roast, bit red wine, some oak, spicy, nutmeg, dark fruit, caramel, molasses. Sweet raisin in taste, vinous, spicy, malty bitterness, dry wood, liquor. Bit boozy in the finish. Quite complex, slight unbalanced. Interesting stuff.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle as ’Grand Cru 2013’, shared by deanso, thanks! Dark brownish red with an off-white head. Sweetish, malty and a little fruity aroma of caramel, raisins, prunes, brown sugar and a bit of honey. Sweetish, malty, fruity aroma of caramel, honey, brown sugar, raisins, and prunes, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, moderately warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really nice!

hazy walnut brown colour, large, stable, creamy beige-ish head; aroma of dried plum and sour cherry, dark chocolate, oak notes and some tart, taste is the same with spicy alcoholic and cognac notes in the aftertaste; good quadrupel; nothing really extraordinary (although this dark chocolate aroma and taste is more intensive than in case of other quadrupels), but still really enjoyable

Shared 375 ml corked & caged green bottle at local tasting. Vintage 2013, ABV is 9.5%. Aged 11 months in cognac barrels. Brown colour, small off-white head. Very oaky aroma, hints of cognac, also old leather and horse stable, a hint of fusel. Moderate carbonation. Sweet flavour, oaky but not too much, notes of cognac and sherry, low bitterness. Very pleasant to drink.
