Overgezet van Untappd. Het is een amberkleurig bier met een volle witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een moutige wat gistachtige geur. De smaak is vol, zoet en rozijnen achtig.

330ml bottle [from a trade with Bartlebier, if I remember right - and if so, thank you very much!]. Cloudy, dark brown colour with small to average, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish dark malty and yeasty, fruity aroma, notes of dried fruit, raisin, plum, fig, spicy-fruity hints of blue grapes, a chocolately malty touch. Taste is slightly sweet dark malty, chocolately, yeasty fruity, notes of dried fruit, raisin, plum, fig; lingering, sweet-ish, minimally warming, alcoholic finish, full body.

Bottle at The Brussels Comic Book Museum. It pours clear ruby with a thick, foamy tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, brown bread, fruit cake, oily, glacé cherry, rivita, cracker, muffin and varnish. The taste is bitter - sweet, chewy, toothy, toasted brown bread, fruit cake, spice, leather, boozy warmth, toffee, molasses, kirsch, toasted nut and tannin with a warmth through the finish. Medium - full body and high, foamy carbonation. Powerful stuff. Decent quad overall.

Gekocht bij bierhandel Verhelst in Dendermonde op 23-03-2018. En thuis geproefd op 7-7-2018. Urthel Samaranth wordt sinds 2017 commercieel gebrouwen bij Brouwerij Palm in Steenhuffel. Urthel Samaranth heeft een roodkopere kleur en is helder van uitzicht, het vele schuim heeft een beige kleur en het heeft een fijne structuur. Het blijft verder normaal aan de glaswand kleven. Na een tijdje is het schuim evenwel bijna verdwenen en blijft er slecht nog een dun laagje over. Middelmatige CO2 pareling met grootte belletjes. Het aroma van Urthel Samaranth is honing- en karamel-zoet met karamelmout en een lichte likeur toets. De smaak van Urthel Samaranth is zoet, met honing en zoethout,een lichte pepertoets en nog steeds de lichte likeur toets. In de mond geeft Urthel Samaranth een volle body met een stroopachtige textuur en een medium CO2 pareling. Het is een licht verwarmend en harmonieus biertje. De nasmaak van Urthel Samaranth vloeit lang uit en is wat plakkerig zoet, met honing en wat stroop, een pepertoetsje en een lichte likeurtoets. bottiglia 33 cl, bel cappello di schiuma beige persistente, color mogano, al naso malto luppolo lieviti belgi banana e alcool, in bocca è speziata caramello frutta candita uva passa e zucchero di canna, carbonatazione moderata, corpo strutturato, abbastanza oleosa, l'alcool si sente (11.5% non sono pochi!), dolce con buon amaro nel finale. Buona 21.10.17

Pours clear brown with a big, frothy, off-white head. The aroma contains dark chocolate, dark fruits (raisins), (roasted) malt, caramel, hops & spices, alcohol (liquor, perhaps jenever or even amaretto), even some balsamico. It tastes medium chocolatey sweet and medium spicy bitter. Warming alcohol in the finish. Full body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Was only available in a 4-pack, well, I don't regret it. Surprisingly good, the label promised tones of chocolate but there's so much more to discover.

Voici une quadruple qui a du coffre. Une chose est certaine, elle ne plaira certainement pas à tout le monde, tant cette Urthel Samaranth est pleine et intense en arôme et en alcool (11,5 % Abv de titrage alcoolique tout de même). Mais atteindre une telle maîtrise dans le brassage pour une bière du genre qui reste équilibrée vaut bien un coup de chapeau à la brasserie Urthel. En verre nous sommes sur un brun aux reflets rubis (EBC aux alentours de 38) avec de très fines bulles donnant naissance à une mousse blanc cassée de 3 mm. Le nez est très complexe, pruneau, candi, et alcool (sur des airs de vieux cognac) s’assemblent majestueusement. D’entrée, les arômes sont pleins et parés d’une grande intensité et d’une formidable tension. Amertume, sucre et alcool sont denses sur des arômes de fruits confits, de sucre candi, de pruneau et de cognac. Mais l’ensemble se tient de façon magistrale sur une homogénéité parfaite. Il s’agit d’ailleurs du point le plus saillant. Et telle une formule 1 pouvant sortir de route à la moindre incartade à très grande vitesse, toute fausse note sur cette Samaranth aurait été un désastre complet. La ligne aromatique n’évolue alors que peu par la suite. L’arrière bouche présente tout de même des notes un peu plus amères. L’alcool, cependant monte progressivement en puissance pour un final très long où l’alcool, franc, envahit entièrement le palais, sur des notes chaudes, puissantes et nobles et sur des variations épicées. Un véritable modèle du genre, qui ne se désaltère pas un après-midi d’été, mais que l’on déguste, le soir, en prenant son temps.
