Troubadour Westkust is a dark, almost black tasting beer with notes of hop, roasted malt, coffee and subtle hints of chocolate and vanilla. The taste is a balance between roasted malt and coffee followed by a strong but pleasant bitterness that slowly becomes more persistent and creates a long hoppy aftertaste.

330ml brown bottle from the LCBO, written on front label 8.6% ABV and 55 IBU - with a best before date 2022/APR/08. Pours a hazy copper brown colour with light ruby highlights. The head is huge, fluffy-creamy, great retention and some nice creamy lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, oatmeal, with notes of chocolate and mild grassy hops. The mouthfeel get fairly dry in the end, with lots of bitterness lingering. The flavours are mostly hops over the very light roasted malts. A pretty decent Black IPA... from Belgium.

Bottle from the LCBO. Clear dark mahogany under a large foamy khaki head that fades slowly and leaves spotty lace. Nose is molasses, dark fruit, grass, roast nuts, light coffee, licorice, minerals and light yeast. Light+ brown sugar sweetness with a medium+ grass and coffee bitterness. Mouth is full and creamy with soft carbonation. Warming but not boozy. 8/4/7/4/15

Tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Dark brown, big solid golden bubbly head. Looks like a milkshake. Aroma citrus hops, bit funky, touch of cream too. Taste is strange and nice. Quite strong, initial citrus, lemon and lime, goes into big creaminess and roasty chocolate, long roasty finish. Really biscuity too. Bit like hob nobs. Creamy too. Really nice. Nice and full bodied. --- Beer merged from original tick of Troubadour Westkust on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 10 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Bottle. Murky brown color. Malty, roast and herbal hops in the aroma. Malty sweet, roasty flavor with oily herbal hops and licorice. Some fruit hidden in the background. Very tasty.

Tap @Foeders, Amsterdam, with Joost, small sample. Deep ruby brown, tall frothy tan head, good retention and lacing. Aroma roasted malt, overripe fruit, liquorice, chocolate notes. Taste medium sweet and bitter, touch of acidity, malty, syrupy, light chocolate, pine resin. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, roasty notes, full-bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Robust but alcohol well-hidden, good.

Van de tap in Foeders op 18-4-2019 met Huub. Donker, met goed schuim, zoet aroma. Een heerlijke volle smaak en stevige nasmaak. Lekker.
