Cask at GBBF 2013. It pours deep brown with a tiny beige head. The nose is toasty, earth, twig, nut and wood. The taste is earthy, roasty, wood, twig, touch of acidity, coffee and some astringency with a dry, earthy finish. Light-medium body and soft carbonation. So-so mild. Not much to it....

Cask at the Lyndon House Hotel, Walsall. Poured a dark reddish brown with a thick tan head and no lace. The aroma is weak but malty. The flavour is of a typical English mild which is all malt with some mild bitterness. It’s a great session beer in the Black Country that won’t win too many awards.

[Cask at the Three Guineas, Reading] Ruby-brown, large beige head & a slight fizz. Sour, woody aroma. Earthy taste with hints of smoke, coffee and blackberry. Very bitter for the style, which rather ruins the underlying flavours.

Malty, roasted taste with raisins, prunes, coffee, wort and a dry finish with fairly low bitterness. Rather thin body but fairly tasty. Decent mild.

Cask at GBBF08. Fruity aroma, a bit roasted. Almost black colour. The flavour has a bit of mold, otherwise roasted and slightly caramelly.
