A dark brown ale with a thick dissipating lacing brown head. In aroma, coffee malt with light licorice notes, light iron, with some grassy notes. In mouth, a light bitter chocolate with light acidity, metallic points, a bit watery. Tasted with ProbstBlueRibbon, July 7, 2012.

Originally rated October 2005. Ok... last of the 8 beers my girlfriend brought back from her trip to Europe. Best before date is 31/03/07. Pours a deep brown-red with a creamy tanned head that has decent retention. Some patchy lace is left. The aroma is mostly of Belgian yeast, with hints of spices. Wow ! Did not expect that. A smoky kick right up front. Definitely is more of a rauchbier, than a stout. The buckwheat comes through in the finish. Hints of molasse are also found much later in the aftertaste. Very nice different light beer for a dark ale.

Not much aroma. A bit of woodyness and farmhouse. Pours opaque black with a light brown head. Falvour is rustic and funk barnyard. A little bit of roastiness.

Opaque black beer, thin white head. Short lived. Smooth sour malt with a hint of roastiness. Subtle licorice. Palate is very slightly soft. Minerally carbonation. A light stout - tasty and drinkable.
